my uncles truck is acting up, any thoughts
my uncle runs campers for verizon transport and has been for 50k +/- miles, its a 2002 3500 auto, 4x4, and he delivered a camper to i think minisota or somewhere, and on their way back they stopped and switched drivers and he was driving and he said i just lost throttle for a second at about 70 slowed down to about 60 then kicked back in, it did it several times the rest of the way home, no check engine light no loss in fuel mileage, no hard starts, i had him check the codes and it said p-1693, then 216, 234, and a pecu and was done, so i checked fuel pressure and it was about 12psi and didnt drop below 8psi at wot, we changed lift pump and reset apps and still know change, i am lost and dont know where else to look, he has also ran lubricant in the fuel since he owned the truck, any thoughts or suggestions would be really great he needs to get his truck back on the road to make some money but i dont want him to get out somewhere and get stuck,
thanks alot
thanks alot

P0216-FUEL INJECTOR PUMP TIMING FAILURE
P0234-TURBOCHARGER OVERBOOST CONDITION
P1693-DTC CLEARED IN COMPANION JTEC MODULE
Sorry, don't want to ruin your day but the P0216 does not look promising, may be VP is starting to act up.
I hope that is not the case, good luck!

yeah thats what i thought too but he said his mileage is like a 105,000 , thanks for the codes that helps, would there be anything i can do to try to see if its the ip, also would anything cause the ip to lose timing, like low lift pump pressure, or apps not acting right, or can the map sensor and ait affect that, thanks for your help

Is is possible for the VP-44 to die by itself, but in most cases the lift pump has died and the Vp-44 is not getting enough fuel pressure to lube and cool itself so it takes a dump.
Check fuel pressure on the schreader valve on the injector pump. It should be min 13 psi at idle, and min 8 psi at Wide Open Throttle.

my 99 had the same problem. I could drive 300 miles without a problem a then it would act up (no pedal). It would always do it at 65-70 mph. I discovered that if I kicked it into neutral and let rpms drop to 1000 it would take off and be fine for a while. It ended up being the electronics in the vp44

thats what i was afraid of, the valve at the ip had 12 idle and no lower than 8 wot, but that might change when he gets a camper back there and works the truck, he said it will usually lose pedal and he'll put it to the floor after it drops a few miles per hour it will kick back in and go, i had a funny feeling it would be the vp44, but wasnt sure and wanted to get a few extra thoughts on it before we had to start looking for pumps
