Another stack question..

I want stacks. But, I don't want a loud noise in the cab. Currently, I am running the stock exhaust WITHOUT the muffler but WITH the resenator and the sound in the cab is fine.

Now, if I run stacks with turnouts WITH the resenator and put them 8-10" above the cab, will it be louder in the cab that it is now?

Louder....probably.
8-10 inches is a little high (IMHO)....Look at Big Blue's and Buckshot's stacks.....They look awesome. Miter cuts just above the cab...Nicely done....Perfect! All of this is prefrence of course, but I'd look at their's first.

I'm pretty sure I don't want mitre cuts. They look good, but I think I want the turnouts.

I'm really concerned about the cab noise with the windows up. I don't want my wife and daughter to be bothered by it. The wife is OK with getting stacks, but I don't want her first ride with the stacks to be her last.

Well, stacks will bring the exhaust closer to the cab, honestly, do what I did. Get a set of 15" subs and set those on the back seat. Add a couple thousand wats and turn it up till you can't hear the stacks.
In all seriousness though, it's all relative. No res or muffler on mine, it's kinda loud, but there aren't many here who run res with stacks....It seems to be an all or nothing kind of deal. You either want the loud noise or you don't. You could also look at stacks with an internal muffler.
Good Luck

I've heard all you have to do to make your stacks quieter is just add twins. No more drone.

I want to say I saw some stack kits that had the option of muffler inserts when I was shopping around. Or you could always run a muffler under the truck before the stacks.

Seems like the easy way to do it would be, install the stacks straightpiped. then if its too loud install a muffler/resonator. That way you could get the loudness tailored to the level you want.
