Another stack question

I've always wondered if it was possible to run the y pipe under the bed instead of it showing in the bed. Has anyone ever seen it done? I think the install would look cleaner with just the stacks showing. thanks for any input.

y-pipe

Afternoon, well I just put in a set of stacks. I wanted to go under the bed with the Y-pipe, but would have ended up hitting the F/O tank. To tell you the truth, in the bed is not that bad. I am fabricating a box to cover the pipe and regain that part of the bed. Where are you located? I am in NJ, if not too far I could meet up with you to show you. I'll have pics soon here.

Cool

Detroit Diesel, I also am concerned w/ the issue of the pipes in the pickup bed and having to hide them with a conventional Delta-type pullup tool box. I've seen pics of toolboxes that fit right over the Y-pipe on one of the diesel websites. Is that a homemade job or is that something that can be purchased?

My second concern, is the fact of stacks being so **** loud that you will have to remove them. Can you or someone else give me advice/ suggestions on these issues before I saw a hole in the bed of my beautiful 01 ram 2500 and live to regret it? Thanks,

Pierce

Depends on how many muffins (mufflers) and what type muffin you use. Mine sounds real good but mine point to the rear of the truck also. I used a 12 inch Dynaflow.

Ted Jannetty's shop does some nice stuff. Sadly, that stack system is probably worth more than my truck....

edit: I'd like to see a side view of that truck to see if the pipes hang down below the bedsides much...
edit_edit: I'd also like to see a heat shield on the pipe that runs in front of the tank

Thanks for the info fellas. A buddy of mine told me that a stack kit can also be purchased on ebay for a reasonable price.
