Another Fuel pressure gauge concern
Another Fuel pressure gauge concern
Guys
i finally got around to gettin some worthwhile gauges for the truck, and im gonna do it right.
I happened to order a boost, pyro, and fuel pressure gauge for my 96 12V from Garrett at puredieselpower.com I got my gauges and everything is ALMOST good to go...
I have a fuel pressure isolator, Isspro part number R7797, and upon readin the instructions i notice that this thing does not come with the needle valve, the banjo bolt can be tapped, and it says that I need stainless steel tubing to run from the gauge to the isolator, then from the isolator, to what im assuming is the fuel line that has the banjo bolt tapped and the needle valve.
I am goin to put this gauge in the cab, seein that i ordered a triple gauge pod for my truck, it will be at the very bottom of the pillar.
I am curious about several things. ONE being, do i have to use stainless steel hose for this gauge? IF not what kind of hose can I use? and where can i purchase this hose? I have not receieved the actual gauge yet, nor have I received any hose of any sorts for this, Im assuming it comes seperate from the isolator, But im goin to worry about getting the gauge only when it does get here..
I am certain that I can get the needle valve at the local Grainger store, But will I be able to pick up the male and female connnectors there as well? According to my instructions i need the 1/8-27 NPTF (whatever that means) female, (tubing fitting to 1/8-27) am I correct in this assumption?
Seems to me I will need teh needle valve, tapped banjo bolt, (which my shop can do) one set of male female connectors for teh back of the isolator, another for the front of it, and a final set to connect to the gauge.
Which means i still have some local shopping to do. Any further suggestions for this guys?
Thanks!
Rick

Never mind the above
I think ill just do a whole mechanical setup, and if the need arises, I have a fuel pressure isolator right here good to go..

Forget the isolator and run a stainless braided hose direct to the guage. Hose can be made up at any hydraulic shop for cheap.
The needle valve is installed off the tapped banjo. I use a grease gun hose as a snubber in the line.
It goes as follows......
Tapped banjo, grease gun hose, needle valve, stainless braided, guage.
You don't have to run it this way but it works for me. The isolator is going to die anyways so just forget it. I run an ISSPRO FP guage and it has had diesel pumped into the back of it for 4 years with no problems.
