another BHAF post

well i've been reading and studying these lately. i am going to run this type of filtration because A. i am a very low powered rig compared to most and all i am running is an ez and that's all i plan on doing to the truck as far as performance wise. maybe some tranny work later on, but sticking with the ez. B. i drive down a dusty dirt road when ever i go to the hunting lease. i drive it at least once a month because there is always work to be done down there. and C. i hardly pull a moderate load. the most was 5K and thats was one time. i max out at a 2.5K trailer so with that and the ez my egt's stay low. ..........so i am looking at getting a BHAF within the next few days. just wondering if i would be fine running it without the outerwears waterproof cover for a little while. i plan on ordering the part number i found on here for it sometime within a week or two. just wanted to make sure i wouldn't have a problem without it. also how much does on cost? out of all the posts i read no one specified how much they payed for the water resistant one. and does anyone recommend one filter over another. i am going to start my search at napa because we have a good napa store here and they have nice people to deal with. so any recommendations would be good. i am expected to hear alot more turbo sing over the stock box. especially with no silencer ring, a boost elbow, and 4" straight exhaust. thanks for all the help.

Prefilter is around $30 bucks, if I remember right.

Shouldn't be a problem running the BHAF naked for a while, as long as you aren't fording deep rivers, which the prefilter wouldn't help anyway.

I've been running mine naked for a couple weeks, pulled the prefilter off to wash it,
and haven't gotten around to putting it back on.
It's been very rainy here for the entire time, and I haven't had a problem.

Also been running it without the heatshield for the same couple of weeks, pulled it to change my shocks, and still haven't gotten them done yet.

I have the Fleetguard BHAF, but many have gone the much cheaper NAPA route without problems.

I have never had the pre filter, and drive in the rain all the time. Been a year now, and cannot see anytype of water damage or even tell that it has gotten the least bit wet.
