Aluminized vs Stainless Exhaust

I am getting ready to buy a big exhaust and see their is one heck of a diference in price between Aluminized steel and stainless systems.
the ones I am looking at go thus;
Aluminized steel $ 331
Stainless 409 $ 439
Stainless 304 $ 746

Is their anything wrong with the Aluminized systems?? Will they burn out right away?
How about the thin Stainless?
Your thoughts would be of value to me!

In Hawaii you are probably going to want stainless 304 due to the fact you live so close to the saltwater. Aluminized steel works great if your away from a salty climate.

I have an aluminized DTT (Diesel Transmission Technology) exhaust. It's bathed in salt from November to March. It's 2 years old, but the muffler and pipes and are still silvery and don't show any signs of rusting. I think it depends on the quality of what you're buying, and in the case of the DTT system, it was more than what you were quoted for the 409 stainless system referenced above.

Also, remember the pipes get coated on the inside daily. I have aluminized, but I live in NC. Most manufacture don't put stainless on their vehicles and some how they live a long life. I think it's more of an appearance thing.

I have aluminized and live on the coast. I've had it on for about 10 months now and it still is pertty lookin. No signs of oxidation.

It is cold tonight here on Kauai will probably get down to 68f ! I have already got out the big blanket!

The Truck I will put the exhaust on lives in California so I am not realy worried about salt.
Thanks to everyone for the information ( more dumb questions to follow )

I've had aluminized on my truck for 4 years now and have yet to see any rust. My truck has been on the beach and in the water several times and no problems yet.

Pineapple Kid,

You should be able to run either aluminized or 409 stainless for a long number of years. The 304 is the BEST, it includes the top flight 5 inch tip too, but if you're looking for a system that will do the job either the aluminized or 409 will work.

We sell them all, 409 is 80+% of the total, 15% or so in aluminized and the the balance is in 304. Hope this gets you some insight into what is the most popular etc.
