Aftermarket Speakers

From my 93 I had installed 2 6x9 3-way Kicker speakers. I figured I'd get more use out of them in my 98 so I decided to take apart the door for the install. I come to find out the back magnet is JUST too deep that it comes in contact with the window slider. It is also a bit too thick on the outside. It would most likely come in contact with the door panel once it was back on. This leaves me to question, what do you guys use for speakers? These Kickers sound sweet and it's a shame I can't use them. But if I can't, I can't.

Mike

I went w/ Alpine 6.5" DDDRive components for the front in mine... they are pretty shallow speakers.

My Infinity aftermarkets were a bit too "deep" - so I made a thin (~.125") standoff to put under the speaker to retain clearance on the interior of the door, then fabbed another piece (~.20) to keep the interior door (plastic) panel off of the tweeter - no bulging is apparent, the panel fit back on with no issues, worked as planned....

Actually, that's not a bad idea. What exactly did you use for material as a standoff?

I used a pegboard mat'l (without the holes) for the inner standoff, and somewood off of the side of an old TV cabinet for the outer: I used the speaker mounting surface for a template, and cut 'em out with a Dremel and a band saw.....

Did the same as Rauschbo but instead made my standoffs out of plastic cut from the lids of some old 5 gallon buckets. Had to double it up for the lowers.
