AFC Housing allen bolt stuck?

I am trying to get a little more low rpm power out of my tuck,so I tried adjusting the starwheel. The 8mm hex bolt is stuck!I have a 12" Crescent wrench on the allen wrench and still no go.I am afraid I will break something.I have lightly tapped allen wrench and drenched bolt with crc56.The only thing I can think of is to get a 8mm allen socket and connect to 1/2'' drive ratchet.Any suggestions before I wreck something?Truck is a 96 2500 12 valve 215 pump.Man I miss my simple gen. 1.

I had to work on mine for most of a day before I finally got it to move. Used much Deep Creep (Seafoam) and a big wrench on the allen persuaded with a hammer!! The same gorrilla that installs filters put in that allen bolt!!

on my 97, I just removed the AFC housing so I could get a better handle on it, then once I got the plug out, I welded a nut to it.

Holy Edit, so I am not the only one with a cover that tight. Why would you tighten something of that material so much? Is it worth the effort performancewise?

Mine came loose with a loud POP. I used a 3/8" drive allen socket from a brake kit to get it loose and a box end wrench used as a cheater. When I put it back on I didn't get it that tight. If it's never been off you may be trying to break the paint as well.

I did the same thing the first time

the 3/8 ratchet with some extensions and the 8mm hex key plug along with three feet of cheater square tubing. One loud pop later it came off...

I used a socket as well. And worried I broke something the pop was so loud. But all is well, nothing broke.

I have had mine on and off several times, each time it is hard to break open. I think what is going on is that there is disimilar metels between the housing and the hex bolt.
