Aeroturbine ???'s

got a new aeroturbine 4" muffler(G/F's mom works at morgan mcclure's race shop & aeroturbine is one of their sponsors, so I got it reasonable) was wondering if anybody was running the muffler & how do you like it?? how's the sound outside/in the cab??? I seriously doubt the performance/egt reduction/fuel mileage claims they make, but was just wondering how they sound, particularly in the cab?? thanks, Dusty

Put the shorty on bout a year ago, after yanking everything aft of the turbo downpipe. I was told to place it as far forward to minimize the drone. Followed it with a stainless "Test Pipe" and back into the stock 4" with a tip on it. Improved everything, sounds fantastic outside, a bit loud for an old man at 50-55mph, and then it mellows out again. Nothing that you can't have a conversation over though. If I had to do it over again, I might have chosen the longer model.....maybe. I think their workmanship borders on art, and with it being S.S., it should last forever. Could be a little loud if I was towing heavy, but I don't.

I have a bud who owns a muff shop and we experimented with a 3in on a mildly modded 94 auto and it did what it said it would do as far as lowering the exhaust temps, we also used thier advice and put it as far forward to the engine as possible with atleast 12in of straight pipe in front and behind. It was free and again it did lower the temps and it most definitley got rid of the drone that came with the straight pipe that was done a few weeks before. Now with that said I don't think I would pay the price for one as a good straight thru muff would do the same thing. The company that gave it to my friend also stated that two in a row will even work better, but go figure! They are exspensive but shiney too! Their claims of horsepower gains are snake oil, it didn't do nothing but lower the temps. Goodluck,Rick

Kan,
When you say it did nothing for the power, are you comparing it to the stock setup or to a straightpipe?

I'm a believer!

I dropped the 50lb stocker and installed the 10lb 4040L with resonator 2" off my cat. Nice sounding and only barks when asked!

Ya know, I first replaced the cat with the testpipe, and connected it to the stock muffler. Whenever I got on it, the stocker was so restrictive, I would blow it right off of the testpipe! That is when I knew it's future was gonna be in the corner of my shop.

The truck already had a #10 plate,3gsk,timing, air filter, gauges and straight exhaust, all we seen it do was lower the egt's when hooked up to the same 30ft Fifth wheel and eliminate the drone. If you look inside them they look just like the insides of a mbrp muffler except they state to install in only in one direction and to have at least 12in of straight pipe in front and back of the Aero.. I currently have a dynomax...... I think???? think it came with a bullydog kit a friend of mine ordered.it's a straight through muffler, & it's about the same length as the Aeroturbine( I have the long version), I considered running the two together, I really don't much like the noise anymore, I spend way too much time in my truck on the interstate loaded & the drone kills my head!!!! that or I might even run it with a walker resonator, 4" straight through design about 16" long, what'ya think would work best????thanks again, Dusty
