Advice for LP and Vp44

I am in need of a Vp44, Looking at "Thoroughbred Diesel" Now they offer the HotRod vp44, Which I hear has undesired Lope with stock injectors which I Have currently. I plan on upgrading this year, Is this desired Vp44 or should I just buy the normal Vp44 they offer. Anyone had any problems or know of any problems with this vendor? Whats a FASS system pros and cons? I notice the price is 400 more then a OEM LP. Price is aways an issue, I do want to do it correctly, and want me truck running nice and strong for as long as possible. Any other suggestions on vendors or set ups would be appreciated.

Also the HRvp44 Lobe, is it just undesirable or does it cause damage to something, I don't want my truck running like poo .. but i can handle a little roughness still I installed new injectors and move to twins.

Your IP should still be under warranty. Take it to the dealer and have them replace it. I just had mine replaced with 96k on the truck. Dealer denied warranty, but I got my money back directly from the corporation. Look in your warranty book for the Cummins diesel engine. The warranty for the engine goes into effect after the basic Dodge warranty.

I am not sure I can worry about the warrenty about the IP, it seems like a ton of work, maybe you can post a address or phone number/email I can access to see if I do still have a warrenty? Since you have already done the IP warrenty I can maybe bum info and make it easier for me.

Well I talked to Dodge today, They said my Cummings warranty ran out May 5 this year. Doesn't that just so figure. Woah wait .. you said a 1050$ pump? Im looking at a 1800$ Hotrod VP, and the local Dodge Service desk just offered me the OEM pump for 2200$ ( and 600$ labor to install) over the phone ... I laughed at the price and said I would bring my own, The service tech said that the pump wouldn't be under warranty then, I told em for 12,000 mile warranty that will expire in 2-3 months due to me driving over the mileage, it wasn't worth it. She also slipped and said the work to install the pump wouldn't be warrantied,( i understand if the pump died due to pump failure its on me) I was like if you put in a pump and wont guarantee your mechanics work that it will work ... im not interested in having it done by your shop, I can do it myself and prey to god I get it right ... and have a better chance of doing so because I reply and love my truck. She also didnt understand when I said my injection pump was out, she tryed to tell me my loss of power (Izusu diesel pup power) and dead pedal could be the lift pump.... er okz lol... ( bumped the start, listened to lift pump ... sounds like its running to me)

SO yeah .. should i buy the hotrod or can you give me a place to get that 1050$ pump and call it good? back to taking suggestions

I bought my VP44 for less than 1k from Pensacola Diesel. I found them through E-bay, located their web site, then called on the phone, confirmed they were legit and ordered via phone for E-bay price and free shipping. VP44 works great so far, had it for a few months now.
Save the aggravation, install it yourself with a buddy over a few cold ones. Makes for a nice Saturday away from the computer

Dodge is the last place to check for warranty information. The only place that matters is the 2002 Warranty Information booklet. Access to the Warranty Information booklet PDF is linked at the end of this thread. The thread also details the warranty-replacement of my VP44 at six years, ten months, twenty-one days/130,737 miles.

Thomas to the rescue. I took this info with me. I had my VP44 replaced at the dealer,, who denied my warranty. Then I called the 800 number and talked to their rep. I got my money back minus 100 deductible. They told me my warranty ran out in Feb of this year. The warranty book states in black and white AFTER the dodge basic warranty. Dont let them pull this scam on you.

The lift pump buzzing doesn't mean it's working.

When they warrenty an IP they will also want to replace your lift pump with an in tank pump. You should change the lift pump while you're at it, but there are better pumps on the aftermarket than the oem unit. If you want to stick with an eom pump at least get a line kit for it so you'll have sufficient fuel for bombing That setup worked good and the walbro pumps are pretty popular too. Fass sells the pump by itself and the pump with the fuel/air separator.

I was in a simular situation with the IP. After talking to Dodge the price of the hot rod pump seemed like a deal! For the price difference between the regular SO vp44 and the HRVP you can buy some nice injectors. The hot rod pumps may not the best mannered pump out there, it will add power down low and lets you use smaller injectors for more power. My truck sounds like a studder box sometimes, chugs along like a pulling tractor at low rpms, or when it gets hot it lopes like an angry big block. Using a tst comp I can lope just by pressing a button
