? about buying injectors

Is there anything to be concerned about buying a used set of injectors?

Can I just buy a set of 100hp nozzles and change my stock ones out? Definitly cheaper.

I wouldn't be to worried. Ask the seller if he could have them pop tested. Yes, it is cheaper to buy the nozzles and do it yourself but I feel if you will have a better injector buying one that is already made up. Everyone seems to like the Formula 1 Diesel Mach injectors.

It depends on what the used one's are? They might just be used jammers or they might be used F-1's. There's no way of telling just the sellers word. We need more info. before we can make that call.

Someone found a set on ebay

Saw those yesterday too. Best I could gather from that auction is that they're Edge Jammer stg. 2's.

Ever heard this? "You get what you paid for".

The best advice I can give anyone buying injectors is, stick with a known manufacturer. Save your money and buy from DDP or F-1. Sure there expensive, but you get the best in quality, performance and service.

I have the Jammer 4's in my truck. Easy install and the best bang for the buck. I would do it again. Now if I want to upgrade I can spend the money and get a better set and know what to expect.

Expect them to get hot with your hy35. Anything you get is going to add heat, smoke, and power. Some of the better sticks offer more power and a bit less heat and smoke. If you are buying tips you can take them to a local injection shop and have them pop tested so you can avoid the lopey idle some people get.

Those injectors you are looking at are just the nozzles. You would have to use them with your stock injector.

I went with Mach injectors b/c I got a good priced used set and am very happy I waited and got a quality injector. 6 months to a year down the road that few hundred bucks you saved won't seem that big of a deal, especially if you continue to upgrade.

So then, is it OK to buy good nozzels rather than the whole injector?

You will find VERY few people that have bought them tell you, that there not the best bang for the buck. Some people only want the best money can buy. Some start with nozzles and move up to better sticks (I did), but just because they didn't make 220's in the nozzles. SO if that's what's in your budget, Go for it. Some say alway's have them tested. I've put in 3-4 set's with no problems. It would take 3+ day's to send them some where or a 200 mile round trip to get it done. If I would have had a bad idle. It would have only took an hour to have pulled them back out, and then have then tested. If you live close to a shop that can test them, well, that would be different.

Are there any special tools to swap the nozzels?

With an xzt+, would 100hp nozzels be too much for a stock clutch?

Their not a too bad bang for the buck, they have to be assembled with your stock injectors as they are just the nozzles, But we've put a few sets in and we did a 99 a while ago with an HX-35, Drag comp and Stage 4 nozzles and it did 404hp on the dyno.

My take on this is that just nozzles are quite OK, used injectors do depend on a lot of factors. First one would be what kind of injector. If you got a used set of one of the first extrude honed injectors for the ISB that were smoking like mad with toasty EGTs to begin with after they have been run for 200 k miles you will most definitely hate them.
On the other hand if you get a set of very young Mach injectors with low miles because the previous owner wanted to step up a bit (bombing bug can do that to you) it should be fine.
I would suggest to ask the mfg of the used injectors how much it would be to freshen them - that way you can get the best quality IMO.

Another point to consider- with today's fuel prices you will want to have an injector that gives you still decent fuel economy. A couple of bucks "saved" on the injectors can easily be offset by the increased fuel costs over the next few k miles.
