#6 fuel Plate
#6 fuel Plate
HI all
My business is slowing down a little bit so I'm going to tinker with the old dodge. The only Mod at this point is a K&N filter (stock box). I have gauges on the way And looking at a # 6 Plate, 4" exhaulst, and 215 inj. I do need to kill the KDP, change fuel filter, ck pump timing. My main concern is fuel millage, I'm driving about 150 miles a day @ 17mpg. Should these mods increase my milage, and or do you recommend anything different.
I don"t know much about the truck. The motor has a sticker that it was installed 60,000 miles ago, could have been rebuilt or out of a another truck. but runs like a top. The trans is a little weak. I paid 900.00 for the truck 8,000 miles ago and have become quite attached.

I have a 96 2500 and my interest is mainly in higher mileage too. 'Course if it makes more power at the end of things I won't complain much.
If you have an auto you'll probly want to upgrade at least your Torque converter just to handle the power the plate and injector gives you. Also a higher quality TC will give you better around town mileage where the loose stock TC spends a lot of time being unlocked and highly inefficient.
Other things that improve mileage, take off any cool looking front bumpers (about 1 mpg), put low rolling resistance tires on (1-2 mpg), advance the timing (? mpg), slow down (rats!).
Other thoughts: My truck has a 4.1 final drive ratio. 70mph means 2200 rpm on my truck. To drop 70mph to 1700rpm I could get a gearvendors overdrive for just under $3000 or replace the drive gearing in my axles with say a 3.2 for about $1200. Or I could simply get bigger tires. If I do any of these I'll probly change the gearing, but that's me.
You stole that truck by the way.
