5spd ?

Did they put the NV4500's in the gas trucks too? V-10's maybe or 360's? if so, is it just as strong as from a diesel? My dad has a 98 Ram2500 4x4, 360, 5spd. I wonder,,,would he notice if it were automatic one day?

Now that I think about it, the gear ratios are probably different aren't they? Not too suited for the CTD's

some of the early gasser 360 ones had a 23s pline output shaft (weak) and 1 1/8 input (same as the chevy's). The V-10 models though are the same as the cummins and i believe the 99 and later gasser 360 nv4500's use the same output as the v-10's and diesels at that point.

They all have the same gear ratios in NV4500's, the only exception are the 92-94 chevy models that came with a 6.34:1 1st gear and 1st and reverse are not syncronized. the Dodge version is the same in diesels and V-10s from 94-when they did away with em recently. all have a 5.63:1 first gear ratio there are no other gear sets that were used by dodge.

Ok, so what about the bellhousing? What bolt pattern does a cummins engine use? Is it the same as the 360 or V-10. My whole idea behind this is that it's gotta be alot easier to find a wrecked gasser for cheap that I could steal one out of. And don't you have to change the input shafts on the nv4500's anyways, or at least it's recommended to go with the 13" clutch?

I paid $200 for the bell housing, flywheel and bolts for a cummins and nv4500 from spalding wrecking yard in spokane washington. I dont believe the 360 bellhousing will work it is shorter because of the shorter & smaller input. I have no idea on the V-10 though i have heard the V-10 and cummins share the same bell pattern, somewhere i thought i read that guys were yanking 2wd cummins automatics and putting them into the vipers.
