47rh fluid capacity with mag hitec dd pan
Hey guys it time to do the first fluid change on my rebuilt tranny and was wondering how much it will take with the double deep pan. Also what are some sinthetic fluids you guys are using? Thanks.

I think 7-8, I could be wrong. This is if you are just dropping the pan. If you are going to empty the converter and drop the vb then it will be lots more.

MY 47RE takes 11-12 qts if you just drain the pan. I don't mess with dropping the pan and draining the convertor.... I just do it more often cause I'm only getting about 60% of it out.
Filter needs changing after first 1,000 miles on new tranny and every third drain +/- after that, which requires dropping the pan.
I use Amsoil ATF.

When I drain the DD pan and the DTT torque converter, my truck takes 4.5 gallons of ATF to fill back up. But I need to fill back up in steps or I'll get a red puddle on the garage floor. About 2 gallons first; then start the engine and shift through all of the gears with the brake ON. After that, 2 more gallons and a gentle test drive for a few miles. Make sure to get into OD and lockup so ALL of the lines get filled up with ATF. Then the last 1/2 gallon goes in. Finished until next time.
