47re with 205 tranfer case questions

What does it take to mount a 205 on a 47re? I'm guessing this is the only passenger side tranfer case that can be put on a 47 that will hold up the the torque. Also has anyone swapped a 47re into a different type vehicle, what does it take to get the computer to workor set the trans up to be completely manual. I'm trying to get stuff together for a swap this winter. Thanks,Gary

I have no idea on what to do about using the PCM independently to operate the 47RE in another vehicle but I'm sure it can be done.......maybe call ATS or DTT....they may be able to help......As far as the 205 goes, yes, you can bolt it onto the back of a 47RE but depending on what 205 you use, it may require an input shaft swap.....you can use a ford 205 which has a drivers side front output.....the mounting pattern is the same but it will require an input shaft change......if you are installing a 205 with the passenger side output, you have more options but stay away from the Chevy 205 with the male 28 spline input shaft (I think these were only bolted to turbo 350's) because it has a smaller input shaft bearing that would require case machining and has the "hour glass" bolt pattern that does not adapt to the round mounting pattern you need....turbo 400 205's have the right input bearing but still have the wrong hour glass mounting pattern.....a Dodge 205 or Chevy 205 from a manual should fit the bill.....I'm not certain exactly which t-case input shaft you need but a call to Advanced Adaptors should be able to answer that question. What are you swapping this into?

Well, I got a jeep wrangler that has a 470 inch pontiac with ported aluminum heads and roller cam with nitrous that I trail ride with. It's got toyota axles under it right now but it breaks alot of parts depending on how much beer you feed the driver. I went to mild 35 in radials to stop most of the breakage. I'm changing the axles to dana 60 and coporate soon with 38 or 39.5 boggers and this coming winter I'd like to extend the hood about 8 inches and put a hot rod cummings in it just to be different. The wheel base right now is 100 in. but I figure 110 won't hurt it and will make enough room for the cummins. I have a spare cummins sitting beside a pontiac motor right now and it is about 5 to 6 inches longer. The frame is custom from the the fire wall forward so changing it won't be a big deal if needed. I have a spare good 47re laying around is the reason for wanting to use it. The dana 60 is a right hand side axle too. I think it would make a fun trail machine! I just called the guy that has built both of my transmissions and he said to use a 47rh and the overdrive and the convertor lockup could be controlled with toggle switches. That cures that problem!
