36's with 3 inchs of lift?

I just put in a 3inch lift on the front and a 2inch block in the back. I got new control arms up front and trackbar bracket to correct caster angle and all that good stuff. I was wondering if any of you would know if a 36x12.5 tire would fit? I still need to buy rims and i will end up getting the least backspacing possible to push the tire out of the wheel well to avoid rubbing on control arms.I think least i can get is something like 4 or 4.5 if i remember right

If 36's wont fit. Any of you able to put 35x13.5 or 35x14.5 in there with the right rims?

well, I've got a 2" leveling kit and I'm planning on running a 36x12.50, and I don't think I'll have any problems...

a lot of it depends on the width of your wheels and the offset... a 10" wheel ain't gonna happen (which I'm assuming you're running w/ a 14.5" wide tire)

but a 12.50 on a 7 or 8" wheel should be fine w/ a true 3" lift

I'm running 315/75s with just a leveling kit with no probs... I believe it can be done will all be down to wheel choice backspacing etc...

yeah, a 36x12.50 is only going to be 1/2" closer than a 315/75 on the same wheel... I've got a little over an inch... if it tries to rub offroad, I'll break out the cordless sawzall!

but these things have so little flex, I don't think it'll be an issue

Try again..... I ran a 36/12.50 on the same 8" wheels I have now and I rubbed with 4.5".........easily. I can still get my 37's to rub with 6".

Buy some new blades for that sawzall

well, I've got 35x12.50's w/ no rubbing... I've got more than an inch of clearance... a 36 will put the tire half an inch closer... why would I rub?

When i had 3" spacer with factory arms i was running 35x12.5R16.5 on 16.5x9.75 rims. No rub with about 1/2 to 1" clearance. Couldn't tell you the backspacing though because i never cared to check. So i think 36x12.5 will work on an 8" wheel with minimal if any rub at all.

That's at ride height, correct? What happens when you compress the suspension? With the wheels turned? Bet that inch closes up real fast......

I have a buddy that has a 1/2 ton dodge with a 3" body lift and a leveling kit and he is running 36x12.50 Super Swamper Iroks with no rubbing at full turn both ways. As far as flexing you might get some rub but nothing a hammer and sawzall won't fix. Heck just don't go offroad

I looked again, clearance was over 2"!

but it's a non issue... I went with some 285 BFG E's instead.

Wise choice......I'm assuming (I know) that since you looked again, you're looking at static ride height. Things change when the suspension compresses, especially with the wheels turned.

I never rubbed unless the suspension compressed with the wheels turned, like going up a curb cut......

oh I know... and that's why I said even though I had clearance while parkin' lot pimpin, I'd still have the cordless sawzall on hand just in case

but these trucks aren't exactly flex monsters either! so you can run less clearance on them than you can on a lot of other trucks
