305/70's & no lift

I was wondering how well the 305's fit verses the 285's I have now. Isn't bigger always better? I can assume they'd rub under full flex turning. Any thoughts? I couldn't turn up anything on the search.

You should be fine. just dont go harcore 4-wheeling and turning hard. ;D I got 33inch bfg m/t's on 10 inch rims, and these dont rub at all, and i got 305's on stock rims and these only rub on 4-link suspension on a fully locked turn.I have no lift and a 97.

Re:305/70's & no lift

285/75R16's are about 33x11. 305/70R16's are 33x12.5. It's the extra inch and a half that cause the rubbing on the 4 link with a stock wheel. I had them both before the leveling kit, and the 285's didn't rub, but the 305's did before and still do after the lift. It's not bad, just a full lock. If you don't want them to rub, you'll probably have to go with a 10 inch rim.

eric you need to remeasure yours because my 285's on a stock rim are 32.8 x 12.2

Re:305/70's & no lift

Since they're that close in diameter I'll get the 305's! Thanks for the help(helping me spend more $$$)! When I first got my truck I was just gonna stick with sliding the stock fuel plate forward & call it good, now look what you guys made me do! 8) 8) 8) That's quite all right though.

Re:305/70's & no lift

If you use the formula to convert metric size into the normal size, 285/75R16 are supposed to be 32.8x11.2. Most tire manufacturers actual measurements differ from what they are really supposed to be. The 285/75's I had measured about 32.5x11 on the stock wheel.

Re:305/70's & no lift

I run Nitto 305/70/16 on my truck. They rub the lower links a little at the steering locks when you hit a bump. It is not bad though. The tire shop also had Nitto 285/75/16 at the same time I got mine. They were the same height but about a inch narrower. Tim

The 305's are a tad shorter but a tad wider than a 285. A 285 is a tad taller, but a hair narrower. I run 305/70/16 on mine with no lift and get rub at full lock to the left only.

Re:305/70's & no lift

I am running 305/70-16 Mastercraft Courser CTs on factory 16x8 rims and they rub at full turn, worse to the left. I am considering spacers as well as new rims with a different offset. I like the wider look of the 305s, I pevoiusly had BFG AT 285/75-16s that cleared woth no rubbing.
