Question 3000rpm govenor spring

I have plans to install the 3000 rpm spring in my 95 Ram. I have hope that with the other up grades I have made my tuck should be better pulling my 10,000 lb fiver . I found the truck ram out of steam after 2200 rps. Will the 3000 rpm kit help made my truck pull stronger ? Will I see a loss of fuel mileage ? I will have to have a built tranny installed soon I think. I`am open to what to do next . Thanks Don T

Night and day, especially towing. Holding that RPM in direct on a hill at 100kph gives much more power for towing instead of bogging out.

Best mod you can do to a 12 valve but buy a 4k kit and just skip installing the two extra springs the kit includes.
This way if you ever decide you want even more rpm you don't have to buy a whole new kit.
Best install instructions here> http://www.pacbrake.com/PDF/L5658.PDF

It all depends on how much you use the extra rpm on how much mpg you will lose.
If you're using it all the time to race inbetween stop lights expect a big mileage drop. If you're only using it occasionally to pass or accelerate onto a highway you won't see much mpg drop.

That is the kit I got and from that supplier . I wanted it for towing and will install the 3000 that set up in two weeks time. I read here that the 4000 was not so good towing a fiver so I will put the 3000 in and see what it does to my truck. We will soon be Camping in a few weeks and I hope with the cold air kit and now the 4" mbrp duals I can adjust my 10 torque plate and a few other things I read on here that I can do. Thanks Guys . I tow heavy all the time with my 3500 and a 4k kit.
The only reason I see not to have the 4k is if you don't want to change the valve springs.
Since I'd already swapped springs for my exhaust brake it was a no brainer. Just because you have a 4k vs a 3k it doesn't mean you have to run your rpms up over 3k but it's sure nice to have the option.
What I like best about the 4k is while towing heavy it eliminates the big jump between 2nd and 3rd gear on my manual tranny.
Before the 4k I thought I was going to have to buy an expensive gear splitter. There were times I thought I was going to stall the engine going from 2nd to 3rd.
Glad I did the GSK first instead.

I started out with just the 3k springs out of the 3/4k kit, then I found it was still defueling a bit around 27-2800, so I threw in the 4k inner springs from the kit, and now it pull cleanly right to 3k. I just went easy until I learned what "just over 3k" sounded like, still takes a little discipline to not go too far over because it starts to sound reeallll good at 3k. Just food for thought.

Well the 3000k spring is installed in my truck.right away I found the truck shifts different taking off. it does not hang in a gear like it did . I like the way the truck works now ,but the 4" MBRP duals do sound a lot louder and have a different tone now.I`am looking at buying a 12' 14K dump trailer now to pull .I have not taken it for a long run yet to see how the mpg is ,but the truck works some nice. Thanks guys for all the good advice. later Don T
