160 vs. 215 pump - getting simaler power

Ok I have a 94 auto so it's got the 160 pump. It'll have a Goerend transmission soon, so that won't be a worry. So what do I need to get my pump up to snuff with the power a 215 could put out?
I did a bit of searching and couldnt find exactly what I am looking for.

Thanks,
Travis

You can get a 160 pump

to put out insane amounts of fuel as well. Delivery valves (laser cuts) and u will flow more fuel than a stock 215 pump. Some internal pump work would also probably be needed as well as timing the injector pump. After all fuel and air equals power with these diesel engines...

So does a modded 160 have the capability of putting out the power of a modded 215? I wouldn't think so, but hey....I'm new to this!!

Thanks,
Travis

No, but a 160 can go to about 450 with laser cuts 370's, a big plate and some governer springs. Of course you would hae to contend with the turbo before that point. Keep looking around and you will see. Do a search on CTDNUT, he runs quit a bit on a 160 pump. Their are others as well.

a turbo upgrade should be what you start to research next...the 12V can all give you a ton of fuel for a fairly decent price, but getting enough air to use it with out overheating is the real issue, at least from what I have been reading the last few days

what you read is correct.....I'll re-affirm that. At sea level in 65* air with 70% humidity, heat is still a real SOB with the stock or even a hybrid with the common 12v go fast parts. I've about reached the end of the road with my 160 pump...and the compounds are goin in this month. I'll be looking for a 913 pump soon.

You can get mid 400s with the 160. Look at my signature. I have never been on a dyno, but 13.90s in the quarter at 6500 lbs... Close to 430-450 hp..

I raced an SRT/4 that had proof of a 13.7 up in Anchorage and beat him.....but that was before the NV4500....so I don't know what that makes my ET or horsepower back then, as we don't have a track here, but it has to be in that neighborhood as well.

Piers uses the 160 pumps cuz he strips them and builds them up to stoopid pumps. Why strip an already good pump like a 215 or even 180 when theres all kinds of low powered 160's around?

Yea thid doesnt make sence to me either. If piers stoopids can make extreme power than why cant a 160 or 180 pump make extreme power? It might take alot of work tho. You might just be better off buying a stoopid pump

you wouldn't be able to calibrate it, but you could probably put in larger barels and plunger (13mm) and a 215 cam and it would be a pretty hot pump

The stupid has a custom ground cam

I can reaffirm that......my 94 160 pumped 2500 weighs 6680 lbs with a full tank of fuel and me in it. With a 4WD launch at 10 psi, it ran 13.90 @ 101 mph......so, I know it is around the 450 hp range. A 3000 GSK, #100 plate and laser cut DV's are the only pump mods - no internal mods. Piers uses the 160 pump to base the stoopid pump on because because there is no benefit to using a larger pump when huge plungers and a custom cams are used. Any hp P-pump would require the same mods to make it flow 800cc's like the Stoopid does!! Others have clearly exceeded 450 hp with a relatively stock 160 pump so I wouldn't say 450 hp is the ultimate limit, though, it is getting close.
