12v Head stud options

Is there a direct replacement headstud for the stock bolts? I want to swap out my bolts for studs but do not want to pull the head again. The head gasket doesnt have 10k on it yet. I saw where the new design ARP studs require the rocker pedastel to be milled. What other options are out there for a 12mm stud on a 12v?

None really just pop your rockers off and take them to a machine shop im sure theres one close in Va Beach. Prob cost around $75. Or give Tim Barber a call He's right in Norfolk. I know he has a good local machine shop.

If you do get a new set of ARP studs you do not have to mill down the rocker stands. You will have to clearance the valve cover but this can be done by hand with a dremel. When you install the long studs you will have to back them out about 2 turns from all the way in, so that the stud ends up flush with the nut or just slightly under when torqued.

I'm sure it's splitting hairs, but then you end up with less thread engagement in the block

I dont think 2 threads is that big of a deal honestly. As memory serves there was over an inch of threads to start with so I think that there is enough meat to allow for clamping force. My motor isnt really that wild but I can blow past my wastegate and hit 40lbs on my HX35. I have a S300 sitting here and I am waiting for the downpipe to come in (through Tim by the way). I just dont want to lunch the gasket again and I am playing with the thought of adding more timing after the turbo install to optimize my set up.
Can you just dremel out the valve covers with the new ARP studs? I thought that that was only with the old style studs. I have no problem with that. I just dont want to have my truck down for to long and I can play with the dremel till my hearts content. Keep the voices of experience coming.

the only difference in the new style studs is that they are a little bit shorter to account for what they want you to mill off the rocker stand. all you need to do is dremel out the inside of the valve cover and dont run the studs all the way down until they bottom out.
