Cool questions about .120 fuel lines and laser cut delivery valves

im looking for more power in my cummins and wanted to know whats up with the .120 fuel lines do they help what are there caracteristics how will it affect milage also will it be best to put in the laser cut delivery valves with them this truck is a daily driver that goes occasionaly to the strip and pulls some trailers never used for sled pullin im not new to diesel and i do all my own work just i dont quite have full understanding of all the aftermarket parts any advice would be appreciated thanks

also would like to know about these bigger lines...Is it necessary for bigger DV?

You don't need bigger lines for larger DV's. IIRC Fulmer hit the dyno with all three sizes: stock, .093", .120" and he didn't see any HP gains. If I had to guess the main purpose of larger lines is for 13MM pumps so they dont wipe the cams out in the pumps or wear them out prematurely. Not that you can't run them on 12MM pumps but money is better off spent somewhere else IMO.

i agree with 97ctd theres still alot of power to be had with stock lines ive heard that .120 lines idle rough and lazer cuts get alittle toasty and smokey with a stock turbo (if yours is stock) but they flow a buttload of fuel you just have to kinda adjust your foot alittle haha

Which pump falls in the 13mm and 12mm class?Are these the 160,175 and 180 pumps?With there stock lines could they handle 191 DV or even LC without line burst or cam pump failure?

bigger lines are for timing, they delay the injection a slight amount so you can run more timing.

The plungers and barrels is what classifys 12MM and 13MM our trucks have 12MM pumps stock. LC's no need for them on a street truck IMO 181's are enuff for 600+ horsepower. GB Explain to me how these lines have any direct effect on timing they just can carry a larger amount of fuel, this is why they are supposed to be used with 13MM pumps beacuse 13's deliver fuel at a quicker rate which is why you open the lines up so the fuel does not get (backed up causing wear on the cam in the pump) it has else wear to linger in the larger lines. Yes our pumps can run LC's or any other DV's with stock lines no prob. They do not make the pump deliver the fuel faster it just lets more fuel by when stroked. This is why big boys run 13 pumps quicker delivery rate which keeps up with their massive sticks and RPM.

is the stock 96 pump the 12mm is there a way to upgrade it to 13mm or just buy a new pump my pump is supposed to be the 215 pump i have a stock turbo and this is a daily driver so the big lines and lcdv's not a good idea for streetability i dont really car about excessive smoke just dont want hight egts also thinking of upgrading turbos whats yalls opinion about the aurora 3000 thanks

the way i understood it was the larger lines delay the injection pulse so you can run more timing with my larger vp i was told to run larger lines so the injection pulse would be delayed. i could definely be wrong, but im pretty sure a set amount of fuel is delivered and do to the fact that the larger lines take more to fill the pulse is delayed,so the timing can be cranked.

This thread is about the P7100 pump on a 12 valve, that's where the mix up comes from. Your VP is a completely different animal.

more smoke, means higher egt's becuase smoke is just wasted fuel so if you have lots of smoke your egt's are gonna be hot

i thought even then it retards the timing, i thought that is why all the tractor pullers are running them so they can have tons of fuel and alot of timing. even on a p7100 the timing is being retarded because the injection pulse is delayed, unless you have alot more fuel per injection pulse, 13mm or larger, same with a big vp a larger line retards the timing.
