I did my 98.5 a while back, the truck has about 110K on it, you should have seen the cloud the first time the front half the turbo was allowed to vent!!

I almost felt sorry for the guy having an outside birthday party

Yea, I did, I have a few spare turbo gaskets in stock for both the exhaust flange and oil drainback line. BUT, I have reused a gasket before with no trouble, but I don't like to.

What parts do I need for this project and where do I get them??
I was thinking I might need a new housing gasket?? Is that it other than machining the housing?

thanks alot
Wow - back from the dead!

Yeah, just get the gaskets you need to R&R the turbo. The gasket for the backplate is hard to find, and it won't leak unless you have an exhaust brake.

The low budget Banks kits didn't have the 14 cm housing.

You don't need to take the housing off the turbo, just jam some paper towels in the exhaust ports and put some duct tape over the turbine wheel to keep the chips out.

I have a 16cm housing on my truck right now, but since i added the Goerend Converter, you can really notice the slower spool taking off. I wouldnt mind to put my 12cm back on for spoolup reasons, but i dont want my boost any higher than it is now(36psi or so), and i dont want the EGT's to be any worse if i can keep from it. I guess im asking a lot.lol How much will this mod lower your boost with the 12cm housing? I was hitting about 40psi before with the 12cm. Would probably be around 44psi at the most now. I just dont want to work this turbo to hard and i want my truck to be driveable. Spoolup doesent bother me at all normal driving, but if im gonna race, i definatley have to spool up first the way it is now. I also haul hay, and tractors/equipment often enough in the summer, and want to be able to spool up taking off without smuthering everyone behind me with smoke I am going to be hauling about 16k lbs this week though, so i will see how it does first. Just looking for some input. Thanks as always

Eric

I thought they were.
That was an old post when I was messin around with the hybrid.
The htb2 is a duel port. No need to mess with this one

The stock wastegate controller will be able to keep the boost at stock levels once you drill the housing. You can use an add-on like a boost elbow to tweak it to where you want it.

Well, i have an adjustable boost elbow, so i may try that. I just dont want to be pushing to much boost. I know these 35's are tough, but i dont want to hurt it if i can keep from it.Thanks
