#11 torque plate

Hi

I have a 97 12valve that is stock. I have gauges first off. I had a 24valve prior to owning this 12valve truck. This 12valver is sick compared to the 24. I want to modify this truck slightly for pulling a car trailer. Do you guys think a #11 torque plate from TST would be what I'm looking for? Or can I modify the existing plate and turn the star wheel to get what I'm looking for?
Thanks,
Brian in NC

A #11 would work or you could get a template for a #10 and grind it yourself. If you pull the #10 back a little it probably wouldn't blow your clutch either. Also I would suggest getting a 3 or 4 Gsk. That would help your truck alot.

Don't do the gsk if you go with the #11 plate. Check the TST website to find out why.

Yeah I just want a little more power to pull hills and starting off. A stock 12v is a dog.
Thanks,
Brian

Personally I would get the #10 and slide it back a little. It will then be equivalent to a #11 and you will be able to slide it forward for more power when it comes time to up grade your tranny.

Ok. Thanks for the info.

I'm looking at the install instructions on the TST site and it doesn't look hard at all to install. Any pointers other than what is in the instruction manual?

Thanks,
Brian

I've found it easier to just drill the head off of the tamper proof screw rather than mess with torx bits and impact drivers. 5/16" bit is fine. When you pull the AFC cover off the headless screw will easily twist out with just your fingers.

I always replace the the slot head and tamper proof screw with allan head cap screws. They're metric, use the new tamper proof screw that comes with your plate to match up to the allan headed replacements before you start.

Don't know if TST's instructions say but scratch the position of your stock plate on the housing before you remove it so you'll have a reference.

About the 12V dog! Do you have any mods done to it yet??? Pipe, converter removed, muffler??? I have a 97 12V 5 speed with 4" straight pipe from the downpipe back with K&N filter and it is GREAT! Will run past early 24V all day long loaded or unloaded and still get 20 mpg out of it. Unless you are wanting to hot rod around, I would not waste the money on a torque plate.

NOSTROKER

97 12V 5 SPEED as listed above
05' quad cab dually Dr. Performance 100hp module, K&N intake system 4" straight with 6" tip! (too loud) but will smoke ALL 4 TIRES from 40 mph!

Best mods I ever did were gov springs, plate, and timing in that order. I about went nuts test driving another stock 95 that my dad was looking at. The plate is worth every penny. If I ever buy another 12V these mods will be done right after the fluid and filter change before it every leaves the driveway.

what he said.

Does anyone have a profile pic of a 11 plate?

to Brian in NC, if you need a profile of any plate to grind it, i can give it to you. except the 11.

but i have the 0, 100, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12

as for the governor spring kit you might as well look into this:GWK
