1/4 times with a stick shift?

Just interested in hearing what your quarter-mile et's and traps were for stick-shift trucks at different power levels.

HP / tranny / ET / trap ?

If you know your 60' time, that'd be great, too. I'm looking to see how much power I'm going to need to beat my buddy with an '01 Z28 (12.9's). I'm figuring probably 600 rwhp? Truck is in sig and will have a slow-shifting DD clutch installed in a couple weeks.

Thanks.
Chris

mine was a joke, taking off in third, i would get 3.20 60 fts, and 10.6 in the 1/8th at 76 mph.

More than likley you will need an automatic to beat that! 12.9's are smokin, and a big slow shifting truck just ainto gonna beat that without a LOT of engine work. You would probably save yourself enough engine work to justify switching in an auto if you have to be that fast, and wont trade trucks. Just for comparisons sake I will compare my times to gunracer1's times.

My 60 ft: 2.6 pretty average(in 2wd too).
E/T in 8th: 10.769 best. This was with ONLY the fuel plate, and dynoing 246hp/635tq
MPH: 63mph

As you can see, he has a lot more speed than me, but rowing those gears you lose a LOT of time. I ONLY had the fuel plate for fuel when i dynoed, and ran at the drag strip. Also, those times are taking off in 2wd with only maybe 1lb of boost, and still burning tires. Im thinking 10.5's maybe lower are very do-able for me now after some tranny work. The GSK really woke my truck up, and it was falling on its face att he end because it was slow shifting to OD then, and wouldnt shift, so it wound tight in 3rd at 63mph. Now with the GSK it will run 80mph in 3rd. Should Im guessing i might be able to run about 67mph or maybe more since the GSK, and 60ft in 4wd with GSK should also be much better leaving with about 10lbs of boost. I love stick shifts, but when it comes to racing automatics are the hands down winners no doubt. 12.9 would be VERY hard in a 5/6spd, and impossible t be consistent in.

you'll probably knock a second or more going from a DD manual to a full DTT setup...

you're gonna need slicks and you're gonna need to be one heck of a driver...

drive it like ya hate it.

My 24v 6spd at 460hp was 15.20's.

My 12v 5spd at 480hp was 14.20's.
The 12v is now at 600hp and should easily get in the 13's.

At the same power level, 5spd is always going to be faster than a 6spd, and an auto should be 2 seconds faster than the 5.

I raced my 6spd for 3 seasons, and quite frankley, I don't see how you'd be about to get one to run 12's...it'll take more than 600hp.

The auto's definately run better times drag racing, but I'll take my 5spd any day for fun to drive. The 6spd's seem to be bullet proof, but, In my opinion the only thing there good for is towing a heavy load. Just my thoughts.

Second time on a drag strip ever and I trapped a 14.03 @ 101.69mph. I've got the SBC DD 3850. A 104lb sled pulling clutch is hard to shift even remotely fast. 2.3 60' time since I was having a hard time getting 4x4 to hook. It was running a 9.095 in the 1/8th. I have the video if you would like to see how hard it is to shift the truck fast with a DD.

Well, I'm going to do some sledpulling, too, and have always preferred driving a stick to an auto anyway. The thought of converting to an auto has crossed my mind more than once though .
Right now, I'm planning on 575-600 rwhp with a big single. I guess I could always throw nitrous on top of it for playing on the street. (Or go to twins, but that puts me in the 'big boy' class for pulling )
Mike, do you remember your trap speeds on any of those runs?
Brandon, I'd love to see the video, if it's not too much trouble. My email is christopher.j.schnelle@ae.ge.com . Thanks!
