Marines would be useless if the Navy didn't
1. own them.
2. haul them to their work.

I keep forgetting that you have a slightly different perspective than the rest of us guys (most of them at least) .

That's true! The Marine Corps is a part of, and owned by the Navy! The Marine Corps is a Department of the Navy--THE MENS DEPARTMENT!!! LOL Oh, and by the way, thanks for the ride!

Yer welcome.

Navy boot was wimpy. When I joined, I had a job loading Coca Cola trucks. That was in 1964 when pop came in glass bottles and wooden cases, and were loaded by hand.

In boot camp I lost 15 lbs and gained 3 inches in my waist.

I had a 28 in waist back then and could run like the wind. Now I lose my wind going up the stairs. Another 20 years and I will be breaking wind all the way up the stairs.

My Dad was worried about Army basic so he joined the Air Force in 1949.
He didn't realize that all the DI's (or TI's) had been Army until 1947 and most of them were left over from WWII.
Needless to say I guess it wasnt much fun.

Heck no!
I didn't go in until Aug and the draft had ended in Jan.
I thought it would be a walk in the park since the war was winding down. It still sucked.
They still didnt treat us very well so I can imagine the pre 73 guys never got any hugs from the DI's either (we called em Drill Sergeants or King or whatever they wanted to be called).

Really??

I spent more time in a 6x, 47, 53, 130 and 141 than on a boat.
