Post Yikes!

I always have a camera with me, do you?

Well I was coming home from work tonight and I happened upon another
Right Place the Right Time for a picture moment.
Single vehicle accident, looks like he just flopped over.
I got there right after it happened so I do not know what had happened other than
Traction, High Center of Gravity and some side forces. The road litter was water bottles a soda cup and a roll of Duct Tape.

The old Bronco was in really nice condition.

Looks like a true testimonial to the safety in a roll bar and harness, by the time I had gotten there the ground ambulance had taken the driver and ? About a half mile north of this intersection to the High School where he,they? were loaded into one of many La County Fire helicopters and taken to a trauma unit.
I have a lot of good helicopter pictures in my collection.

We have several good local hospitals within minuets but when you are in bad condition they fly you out. (not a good sign) All of the intersections were blocked for about a mile in the North / South direction. This was at 11:00 P.M.

From station 152 about a ½ mile (3 minuets) from my house.
Pictures are taken with my Canon EOS 30-D DSLR, 28-135 ultrasonic image stabilized lens @135mm
Taken handheld with no flash. Timed exposure @ about 6 seconds.

Let's see the pictures have you taken?

Wow ... bet the guy was glad to have that roll cage. Nice rig too, I sure like those old Broncos.

Cheers,

Easier to rotate the tires that way, just need a more discreet location

The tires looked almost new, probably too much traction.

It really didn't look in that bad of condition, if he makes it and the tow truck doesn't destroy it trying to flip it over I will probably see it back on the street again.

This street is Hwy-39 that goes up into the mountains where they go off road and when it is hot out at about 5:00 P.M. you might see a whole parade of thrashed and rolled trucks coming down the mountain all full of mud and beer cans.

I will keep checking the local paper to see what the story is and how the driver is.

It may have had a harness doesn't mean they were wearing it.

If it was a Samurai, you could just flop it back over and keep going. (hoping to not start a war)

Have a good one!

Nice thing about those old rigs, you roll one, you roll it back over and drive home... modern vehicles, you hit a pot hole wrong and its totaled...

A buddy's wife hit a pot hole or open man hole in a heavy rain in a 3 month old Pontiac G6. They asked if she wanted it totaled. she cracked two rims and scratched the side.

OK here is the latest on this accident, with all of the excitement I never thought to look up because the local news chopper was there, when I got home my wife said she thought there was something on the news about it.

Anyhow the story is there was a front passenger that was also trapped as well as the driver and there were 2 in the back that got ejected and miraculously only had minor injuries.

If it were only a few hours earlier this would have been a busy intersection and who knows what might have happened, right behind it there is a bus stop that is always full of people waiting for the bus.

I know this intersection well he might of pulled out from the station with too much throttle and lost it.

Funny you can ask 10 of the people standing there watching and you will get 10 different accounts of what had happened and most of them didn’t even witness it.

Hope these links work.
