Back in the day.....

Reminds me of when my brother's silver 71 442 W-30 used to get shadowed every time we went through town because the guy he bought it from was known for outrunning the local constabularies. Not that we didn't play cat-and-mouse with them a few times ourselves - but never to the point we had to rattle can the car to get home.

BTW - several years later I ended up driving the local HP officer's kids to and from work on the farm - he knew who I was and let me haul them anyway. Probably wouldn't happen today..........

Some of the rice rockets are impressively engineered and are a testament to what money can buy. But most aren't....... just wanna-be's with dreams. But at least they are working on cars of some sort.

Look at NIRA if you want to see what the 4's are capable of. If you turbocharge them and add drugs you can see some huge hp numbers and some nice timeslips.

As far as your buddy goes he still bought a motor for 40-50 hp plus extra weight. You can do what I do and offer to hook =P See what that torque monster of his has then

it is very possible that its in the 13's....well not completly stock but with some mild bolt ons....

if you don't think all motor hondas are fast

if you go to www.k20a.org and read posts (you need to register or else i would post links) they have all motors in the 9's 10's no problem....

I'm no fan of rice rockets, but a 900+ rwhp, sub 10 second, street driven Supra is impressive. There's more than a handful of them around.

My 240sx weighing in at 2,540lb with driver ran a 15.3 with 130whp. It ran a 16.3 full weight (around 2,900lb?) I had an 03 evo w/ 350whp that ran 12.4's all day long on pump gas with 2 12's in the trunk. My 240 is a fun car because I've taken out new acuras at the 1320
