CD player says "ERR"
I don't use may radio or CD much but last time it indicated there was a problem. Do they simply need to be replaced or is there a way of cleaning them to make them work again?
You can buy a cleaner CD that has little brissles on it to clean the laser - sometimes these work, sometimes they don't.... if they don't - I would buy a cheap CD player and install instead of looking too hard at fixing the factory unit.
go to any Walmart or office store and pickup a can of compressed air. attach the little straw and insert the straw and lightly spray into the CD opening.
That has always worked on mine in the past.

be careful with this method as it can potentially ruin the player for good. If the laser gets shifted from the air it will not work and realignment is not practicle.
Mine died when it came to that. I tried everything and nothing helped. That's when i spent 400 on new alpine headunit, 100 for alpine sirius turner, and 30 ipod cable, and 20 in other misc. parts. I know love my cd player

They had it listed on the front page one week. It changes every week and I make a point to read it every week. So far I have learned how to fix my moms minivan speakers and repair the headliner in the old avenger.

Thanks for the tips. Wife picked up a super-duper cleaner kit that seems to do everything but apply the brakes! If it doesn't make a difference I will remove it and do the cleaning internally. Nothing to lose if I fail, how else to learn?
