What's amazing to me, is not some peoples stupidity, but their willingness to flaunt it.

Pick your poison. I was in the military and meet some folks who couldn't wipe their butt without instructions.

I'd guess that it was DoD civilians in the pay offices that did that one....

But who knows? Certainly could be a unit pay clerk.

Reasonable man theory doesn't seem to apply to some people.

maybe one of the gov. offices outsourced to India to save money, and they don't have any idea of what a sacrifice this american has gone through for his country.

GET REAL!

Don't get me wrong, I hate to see this happen to anyone, but how many soldiers have come back wounded? With less then two dozen snafus, I think that's a pretty darn good record. You can bet that private companies have a lot higher percent of errors.

Also, if they were not held accountable for turning in their gear, there would be a real shortage of some equipment that would have to be replaced. You know the rest of the story.........tax money, too much spent, liberals...........

And, like Mike D said, maybe these folks just couldn't handle the system.

Sounds normal to me, common happening in the military, wounded or not. I think they are still using the old punch card system, seriously.

Normal military BS., It will get worked out in the end. I can tell you hundreds of stories like that. Most of them get fixed by some little know fix it regulation somewhere. Not to worry.

Hey, the military is made up of regular people just like us, with mistakes just like in the civilian world. It is not an excuse, just a reality, unfortunate as it is.
The only thing that sets them apart (the military) is their willingness to put it on the line at any time, and for that we are all gratefull. But ask any one of them, they think they are just regular folks like us, but doing a special job.
