Yeah, good times!!

One of the things I always liked about being a flying crew chief on c-141's is we were always going somewhere.
Flew down there in a c141 with a long refuel in Italy and they wouldn't let us stretch our legs. Cargo seats....boy that sucked. Had to pull night, guard duty on the lowboys that carried our vehicle from the docks. Fortunately the abi-dabi's sitting around couldn't tell my magazines were empty. Even better. Before deploying we patrolled our motor pool in Germany at night, while the vehicles were loaded with gear and waiting to go on the boat. All while armed with an axe handle. At least back then we still had closed posts in Europe.

If anybody is interested, this sight is a little slow, but has some decent benefites info and an occasional good conversation.

always fun to "red x" the bird to have a nice layover

I wish I could say that... problem was I would be the one having to stay with the bird until it was fixed! Sometimes not a pretty sight.

My best one was actually in Australia. The IFF antenna went out so we couldn't fly until fixed. I got the part in a couple days but it took a week to get the tester!

It has been a while. I was in Daharan, Saudi. That is the place that the barracks were hit by a falling scud that broke apart. I still remember the sound of the Patriot alarms. I even worked in their shelters one time and got to see the operations. Pretty neat stuff.
