Talking Wooo Who, Good news for all of us from UPS!

ATLANTA -- The world's largest shipping carrier said it is shortening the amount of time it takes to deliver ground packages to major cities across the United States.

UPS said it has made improvements to its ground network over the past several months that are accelerating the transit times of more than 500,000 packages nationwide by one day or more.

The improvements revolve around lanes between certain major metropolitan areas.

For example, shipments between New York and Dallas now are guaranteed to arrive in three business days instead of four. Shipments between Washington, D.C., and Denver also now are guaranteed to arrive in three business days instead of four, while ground shipments between Atlanta and New York will take two business days instead of three.

The other major cities where the company has upgraded its network are Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and San Antonio.

The company said the changes will have a ripple effect on other cities as well.
This is great news for all of us who wait for the Brown truck to come rumbling down the street

delivery time isn't the problem. It just seems to get lost. We almost exclusively FedEx or DHL everything that we dont just simply hotshot.

Last item I sent was a weld coupon (1.5" X 8" X 16" Plate), they lost it. HOW THE L DO YOU LOOSE 100# BLOCK OF STEEL?

You are probably confusing the poor clerk at UPS when you put "West By God Virginia" on the return label.

"Let's see, there's Virginia, there's West Virgina, but I dont' see no West By God Virginia"

The last 3 things I had shipped were all delayed after it entered the system! What difference has it made? Granted it shipped standard UPS but 8 days from CA to SC. The postal service is quicker.

Link removed by jrs_dodge_diesel.

While that site has good intent, there are an awful lot of foul language around there.

Id be happy if them and USPS would quit stealing the contents of my packages.

One USPS incident that was funny recently... them "Did the sender have insurance on it?" me: "No, they were unaware of the value, and also trusted your company to perform your service without ripping off the customer".. Them "Sir insurance wouldve covered it and if the package didnt have insurance, we cant guarantee your item".. me "so youre telling me they should pay to ship it, then pay extra to make sure it actually gets there?" Them "Thats not exactly how it works, USPS processes millions of packages and some do get damaged in transit.." me "Yes, however if the HR department didnt hire theifs my package wouldnt have gotten damaged, the evenlope removed, tape around the letter inside the envelope broken, contents removed, then letter stuffed in a 'were sorry'" bag and sent back to me? Id prefer if next time you didnt send the evidence!" Them: "Sometimes the packages do get caught in machinery and need removed" . me "So if the machine rips it open its ok for them to finish the job and open the remaining contents?" Them "sir we sincerly apologize for the inconvenience.."

click. Edit

I ordered 4 items online Thursday 2-23, early Thursday so they could have shipped that afternoon.

Item #1- shipped from New Jersey for the sum of $.06 cents, shipped via DHL, it arrived Monday 2-27.

Item #2- shipped from Salt Lake City, for the sum of $9.03, shipped via UPS, it arrived Tuesday, 2-28.
(I live just outside Salt Lake City by the way, claimed minimum $300 dollar order to pick up in person at the wharehouse)

Item #3- shipped from Minnesota, for the sum of $9.07, shipped via UPS, it arrived Thursday 3-2.

Item #4- shipped from Tennessee, for the sum of $6.48, shipped via FedEx, it arrived Thursday 3-2.

Which shipping company do you think gets my vote?
Granted, the $.06 was a promotion with the place I ordered from, but still, 4 days (including a weekend) for pretty much cross country, compared to 5 days for cross town?

Just make sure before you make a claim against the UPS insurance that the package is worth it. Once you make a claim against them due to the incompetence of their driver, they'll basically never deliver to your house again, ever.

It's a shame, they used to be such a great company, too. Going public ruined them.
