The Wicked Pickett!! Don't forget "Land of a Thousand Dances", "Funky Broadway", and "634-5789". Guess we are showing our age.

Wilson Pickett had great influence in the R&B industry, he was a true talent, I listen to music everyday that he had a hand in molding.

Geeezz.... He was only 64!

Living near Chicago as a kid I would lay awake at night and listen to WLS play the newest stuff from Motown, Hollywood, and the British Invasion. When a new song came out I would be singing it in the morning at school because they would play it 2-3 times in an hour.

I couldn't afford the records.

LOL!

Yeah, it was all pretty much in a fog, back then

Went to 'Woodstock' in 1969, but don't remember much of what happened those 2 days...Jimmi Hendricks' Star Spangled Banner comes to mind, though.

Saw Wilson Pickett perform at 'Shaboo' in Storrs, Ct. in 1973
Great man, great music.

Getting old? Naaaaw, just getting better!

RIP Wilson
WLS with Mr.Norm's Grand Spalding Dodge commercials fading in and out all night long on my cheapo transister radios...all the way to Nashville, TN.
Hoss Allen and Noel Blackwell played R&B all night long on 1510am WLAC in Nashville.
Ya wanna learn to play a bass? Practice with MOTOWN tunes and you'll be able to play anything on bass.
