Wilson External cell phone antenna?

Is anybody using a Wilson dual band Trucker Antenna? I don’t really need an antenna when driving but we always seem to wind up in areas with very little or no signal when parked. I was thinking about putting one on some old collapsible tent poles that would put it 10 ft up and only erecting it when camping. There are probably better ways to do it but I have seen a lot of big rigs with the Wilson’s (cost about 45 bucks) so I figure they must work or they wouldn’t be using them.

I don't have one but I do want one. I've talked to truckers on the cb about them and from everything I hear, thumbs up, it's a good product. You will get a signal practically everywhere.

I have 2 of them and they were great when I could still get a phone that they could connect to. I had one on my CTD and one at the house to boost my signal there. Now that my phones don't have an external antenna jack, the truckers have been put in storage but just tonight I ordered a 3 watt Wilson booster to go between my phone and the trucker antenna. I'll be setting up one here at the house and one on the travel trailer and move the booster to wherever I need it.

If you have a way to connect your phone to one, they'll do you a great job. I paid $60 a piece for mine several years ago but I've seen them on ebay for half that recently.

Thanks for the information guys. 12valve: My phone does have a jack so I think I will give it a try. They have them at alternativewireless for around $45.00 (without mounts). After you get the amp set up let me know how you like it, sounds like it could be the way to go.

Cell phones. Some external cell phone ad's have wild claims about boosting your signal but since I have seen a lot of truckers using the Wilsons, I figure they must do something.

I've looked at the Wilson's and these not sure which one might be better but I have seen some posts on escapees from folks with the max signal units and they seemed happy, I'm wondering if they will work with a Verizon wireless card for the laptop too

External cell antenaes are a way of life for me. I've got one in my truck with an booster and one I carry around for use in my shack. The anntennae alone helps but the booster is where the real gain is.

Heard good things about them but if you buy one off ebay besure it is a true wilson antenna. I got scammed because it wasnt a true wilson antenna it was just a wilson adapter in the package and the antenna didnt help me much at all but didnt have enough invested to try to get my money back and thought maybe it was because i was using it on a wireless card before I learned it wasnt a true wilson antenna.
