One of my wifes and mine best freinds is a teacher and she was saying how strict the 0 tolerance rule is. It just bafles my mind how uptite everything has become in the last few years. The curent administators would have a fit if they where transported back 20 years. In one of my middle school classes we had to give an demonstrative speech. We had to pick a subject then give a speech on how to do somthing while we showed them. One of the kids was an avid bow hunter and decided to do his on bow hunting. Needles to say he brought his bow to school and shot a target in the class room rite in front of the entire class. No one even thought twice abought it. Granted we were a rural comunity and everyone knew everyone. I think at that time there was around 30 kids in my class.

 

Imagine that.....

 

We could have guns at school, just out of site in a locked vehicle.

My how times have changed.

Does this kid have any reasons to be a threat? Did anybody look into that?

I seem to remember that this was looked into and this kid definitely was NOT an threat to anyone.

out of sight? We'd put them in one the teachers truck so we could hunt with him after school.
Grab bus 03 instead of the usual bus home and go hunt after school.
If the crappie were biting, the fishing poles went in his boat or back of his truck and it was a different bus that run near the lake.

 

He was not a muslim, and had no ties to the taliban, did not attend any mosques with radical leaders, and did not send any emails threatening the safety of this country or it's population. Therefore, he IS a threat.

 

Yeah, I'm ONLY 37 and wow..........we made potato cannons in metals class, and physics class, rode my snowmobile to school sometimes, had guns in the car, some were in the back windows of guys' trucks, and this was in Illinois!

 

them were the days. Same here when growing up in Idaho. rifle during deer/elk and shotgun during duck/goose seasons, a bow during bow season and a fishing pole year round. Snowmobile in the back of the truck for the mountain riding after school (unless I rode it the 20 miles to school which was done often). our shop teacher was cool

 

We did a lot of the same. We had dress up days for homecoming and had cowboy day. I wore a blackpowder Pietta Remington 1858 New Army in a holster to school. When I came in the principal told me to come over and asked if he could look at it. I handed it to him and he looked it over, handed it back, said it was real nice and not to have it out of the holster.

I remember a couple other guys carrying blackpowder Kentucky rifles on hillbilly day too.
