Why do people...
drive w/ their tow mirrors flipped out if they don't even have a trailer attached? It looks so stupid... was behind some guy in a 1500 today on my way to work w/ the things flipped out, I usually see it on dually's which doesn't look as bad, but this guy just looked ridiculous....

Heck, I don't even hardly put them up when I'm towing. I like them down. I think they are far enough out as it is. Plus, I like the horizontal surface with the smaller mirrors in the upper corners. When I have them up I feel like the corner mirrors are blocking my vision in the lower left corner. However, up or down looks better than some that I've seen with one up and one down.
Call me looking redicoulous then... I keep mine flipped up 100% of the time. I think they make the truck look better personally. I see better out of the spot mirror when they are flipped up too...
i leave em down unless im towing, but sometimes ill unhook and have to haull (butt) and forget to flip em down. i wonder if it costs mpg leaving them up? seems like it would with as huge as they are.....
I only use mine (what I like to call the Bat-Wings) in the up position when towing and down when not. I see people using them in the up postion all the time... Up does not appeal to me.
But I do like them better than the "Mr. PotatoHead Ears" they have on the Fords.

When I first got my truck, I hated the mirrors. I almost changed lanes right into a small car several times because of the blind spot. Then one day I flipped them up just to see if it was any better. NO MORE BLIND SPOT. They have been up every sense, and I love these mirrors. I will never drive with them down again, and I really don't care how it looks. It is a safty thing.
I think they looked stupid flipped out as well.........dually trucks aren't too bad with them up but all the others look retarded in my opinion!!!!
But some people have different taste than me........nothing wrong with that

Hah! We don't need no flippin' mirrors!
I mean come on, why make fun of the mirrors when the rest of the truck looks like a Patuber Bug crossed with a Volkswagon beetle?
First gen's all the way...
(Actually, does anybody make aftermarket mirrors for the first gen's? My mirrors fell out a few hundred thousand miles ago, and now I have plastic cutouts duct taped into the stock mirror holders...)

I tow a lot, so I leave them up. 1 time I folded them down and couldn't stand it when in the up position I love the corner mirror which takes care of the blind spots. I got fined from DOT on my old dodge (had the standed mirrors) when hauling oversized loads. Put the trailer tow mirrors on end of problum.
