Why the CAT plate?
Why the CAT plate?
Why is it that I see so many diesel owners, all three brands with CAT plates on the front of their trucks? It kind of drives me nuts. Do they think that others will assume that their engine is a cat when they drive to the store? Am I worrying to much about it?

To their credit, it is the only production engine (that I know of) for OTR trucks that is produced with twin turbos:

I see a lot of that down here in New Orleans (so it is a southern thing BigBlue). I've seen them on eveything from Superduty's to Crown Vics...I kind of assumed the Cat equipment idea. Maybe they are in the construction business or something.
Like Jack, though...it sort of bothers me. I'd like to know why.

There's a CAT plate on the front of my work truck but it has a Cat under the hood. I'd never put one on the Dodge, and I wouldn't have put the one on the work truck if my buddy at the KW dealer hadn't given me the plate.
I don't see what the big great reputtaion with CAT is anyways. It's just the name everbody knows, and I don't think they're any better than Navistar or Cummins or anybody, are they? The Kitty Cats seems to have nothing but problems from people talking about them.
