Who shoots an Ultra Mag?
I won a .300 SAUM at a pheasant forever banquet last winter. I haven't shot it yet because I sold it to my brother in law. He hasn't even gotten a scope for it yet.
I have shot a .300 UM and they do kick. If you get one make sure that you get a heavy stock to help with recoil.
As for the difference in the guns, I can get about the same performance out of my .300 WSM as my friend can get with his .300 UM and I use a lot less powder. You really aren't gaining much with the UM except more cartridge space that can't be used.
