Whats to do in philadelphia Pa.

My wife an I and our youngest son will be in philly at the end of the month. He will be having surgery at C.H.O.P.S , there will be some down time before his hospital stay, so we are hoping to see the city, and the surrounding area.

I love Philly! Been there many times for work and took my daughter there a couple years ago for a couple days and wished we had more time there.

In addition to what others have suggested:

Warmdaddy's - southern blues restaurant - good music, good southern food (although as northerner I don't have an appreciation for collard greens and chitlens, but everything else I had was good).

Moriarty’s Irish Pub on Walnut Street - (highly recommended by a local policeman with a thick Irish accent) good food, good beer - maybe not the most kid friendly...

Penn's Landing

Bassett’s Ice Cream - America's oldest ice cream company in Reading Terminal Market (Near the convention center)

And you absolutely have to try a real Philly cheese steak - there was a great place downtown, but it was years ago and I don't remember the name... Ask some of the locals, I've always found them to be very friendly.

For cheesesteaks you need to go to Pat's or Geno's. Those are the two local legends and each have their rabid fans.

Just outside of Philly you have Valley Forge National Park. There is the Philly Zoo, the Art museum, Fairmont Water Works. Which is the first source of water for the city, now it is a kind of museum. There are plenty of us close to Philly. I'm about 50 miles NW of the city. When you get here shoot me a PM. Keith

philly has its good areas and its bad areas you will know when your in a bad area so just leave dont worry about getting lost just get out of there... yeah im not in philly either im about 35 miles north of CC. close enough i can go down to hang out have a good time and what not but dont have to worry about the traffic or anything... BTW stay off of I95 between 7-10am and 4-6/7pm turns into a parking lot...

if the ronald mcdonald house is full and you dont mind the 30min drive to the city to go to the hosp. got pleany of hotels around my area and malls restuants, casino chuckie cheese.. that kinda stuff

Webbfoot, if you decide to tow the TT let me know. There is a campground about 30 minutes north of Philly. Keith

Oak Grove Park and Sales near Souderton. It isn't far from either the Northeast extension Lansdale exit ( about 8 miles), or go up 309 from the Fort Washington exit. Media Camping Center, Indian Valley camping Center, and Fretz RV sales are close to Oak Grove. The have RVs there year round. Keith
