My wife an I and our youngest son will be in philly at the end of the month. He will be having surgery at C.H.O.P.S , there will be some down time before his hospital stay, so we are hoping to see the city, and the surrounding area.

there is alot to do down there during the days..the franklin inst. is a science museum which is pretty cool. (http://www2.fi.edu/) camden aquarium, phila. zoo, south street, dave and busters which is a HUGE resturant/bar n grill/ arcade thats right on the water (deleware ave iirc) those are things i would recommend. you can always go to this site.... http://www.gophila.com/ shows you most of whats going on in the city.

I love Philly! Been there many times for work and took my daughter there a couple years ago for a couple days and wished we had more time there.
In addition to what others have suggested:
Warmdaddy's - southern blues restaurant - good music, good southern food (although as northerner I don't have an appreciation for collard greens and chitlens, but everything else I had was good).
Moriarty’s Irish Pub on Walnut Street - (highly recommended by a local policeman with a thick Irish accent) good food, good beer - maybe not the most kid friendly...
Penn's Landing
Bassett’s Ice Cream - America's oldest ice cream company in Reading Terminal Market (Near the convention center)
And you absolutely have to try a real Philly cheese steak - there was a great place downtown, but it was years ago and I don't remember the name... Ask some of the locals, I've always found them to be very friendly.

Just outside of Philly you have Valley Forge National Park. There is the Philly Zoo, the Art museum, Fairmont Water Works. Which is the first source of water for the city, now it is a kind of museum. There are plenty of us close to Philly. I'm about 50 miles NW of the city. When you get here shoot me a PM. Keith
we are staying in the Ronald Mcdonald house if there is room.Don't know until we get there. We were there once before did not have time to see any thing. It"s kinda odd 2 blocks right of Ronald Mcdonald house is the hood, well what I call it any way,3 blocks to the left was an Ivey league school nice blend. But we will try to get to the history area this time.

Oak Grove Park and Sales near Souderton. It isn't far from either the Northeast extension Lansdale exit ( about 8 miles), or go up 309 from the Fort Washington exit. Media Camping Center, Indian Valley camping Center, and Fretz RV sales are close to Oak Grove. The have RVs there year round. Keith
