What T-case have I got here?
Ok, I picked this up the other day and now I'm kinda curious what I've got. It looks like a 205, but there's no range selectors/sliders. And the drivetrain gurus say???
Thanks for any input!

I dunnno. I'm going to hit it with the pressure washer tomorrow. The input 'half' is just huge--it dwarfs the input section on my trucks 205. Plus, the PTO cover is on the input side, rather than the output side on my 205. It looks (in the 2nd pic) like the shift rails are not cast in. That little something above it looks like a switch, maybe for a 4wd indicator lamp...

In that top pic I think I see a little cover with three bolts in the middle of the case? If it has a little cover that faces to the rear as if it were mounted in a truck with three bolts then yes its a NP205. Thats a quick way to tell a 205 from any other t-case. They are the only ones with that little cover with three bolts holding it on.

I think it is a NP203 the front section is just a gear reduction section and the back half is where the power is split from two wheel to four wheel drive. When people build a doubler they use the front half with the gear reduction to lower crawl ratios on rock crawlers. The 203 mated to a 205 is the most common doubler that is homemade.

Ahh, so I've got the recipe for a doubler? I better give Offroad Design a call and see what that adapter runs. Might as well twin stick the 205 while I'm at it...I'll have 4 levers coming out the floor with the doubler I need new driveshafts anyway...hmmmmm

At first glance, I thought it was a 203 as well, but it's not. The front part of the case does not bolt on like it does with a 203. In the second picture, you can see that the whole assembly is cast in place. Therefore it is not a 203. Also, the 2 large bolts in the top of the case over the front driveshaft output are indicative of a 205 from a Dodge. These bolts were used in Dodge t/cases to mount to a bracket on the passenger side frame rail. It's a 205, most likely out of a late 70's Dodge Power Wagon.

I thought all late 70'sdodges were full time with the 203? Just look at the rear of it and see if it has a little cover in the middle with three bolts. If it does its a 205. If not 203
