What boat to get?
Looking for a boat...We want it to be able to pull a skier, fish on occasion, look good, have a bikini top (I think that's what it's called)......oh, and be between $15 and $20,000. : I really haven't researched them much, and don't know what's a good VALUE out there. Any rec's are appreciated!!! I live about 120 miles from Lake Powell and 150 miles from Lake Mead, so I have some decent places to go boating 8).

Sounds like you live somewhere near Cedar City. Come to Vegas and buy a nice used Four Winns or Crownline, there are plenty of them around here. The upside to our divorce culture is that it provides a good secondary market for slightly used boats and jet skis.
BTW it's called a Bimini Top.
See you at Lake Mead or Lake Powell.

Nevada...exactamundo....Cedar it is! I've never got used to the idea of buying used though. I've been thinking either 2 jet skies or a boat, and the boat seems the logical choice...

J craft is one of the best ski boats also correct craft nautique's are great. I run a 19' J craft with a 225 Merc optimax run about 80 MPH has no wake for slolm skiing and lots of power.

What do those run?? 100-200K? ANy thoughts on these??
It's what I'm thinking of and doesn't seem too 'out-there'...meaning I can afford it, pull it, park it in my yard and the neighbors won't wonder what I'm dealing to afford all these toys I got

Re: What boat to get?
For fishing and skiing, I would recommend looking at the bass boat line and then look into the fish and ski combos they offer. I have a Tracker Nitro 185 Sport and it does everything you request. I can pull a skier, fish with the best of them and it looks cool. Like my wife says, "it has lots of sparkles". I am not sure what type of fishing you want to occasionally do, but the Tracker line is inexpensive and very complete. Just my input.

Re: What boat to get?
PADZZ - Not knowing what your long term plans are, the boat is the better choice. Unless you can afford one of the new four stroke skis, or one of the newer fuel injected two stroke skis, both of which are spendy and neither of which are commonplace on the secondary market, you are better off long term with a boat. You may not be aware that the Park Service has been embroiled in a protracted legal battle with a group known as "The Blue Water Network" that has resulted in a "Lake Managment Plan" that in short, makes all but a few two stroke engines illegal at Powell, Mead and Mojave as of 2012.

Good luck with your boat shopping. I bought my boat new, but if I ever do it again I will buy used. The initial depreciation hit you take on a new boat (or just about any RV) is horrifying.
