Went Deer hunting this morning!!

Well was on my way to work this morning and wouldn't you know it...an 8 point whitetail jumped in the road just as I got upon him. Was really glad I had my ranchhand brush guard on. only damage was boken foglight, small dent in the bumper and the plate holder smashed. It was foggy out and luckly I had slowed down to under 40 mph!!

Well we must have too many deer around here, 3 Dodge Trucks in 5 days killed 3 deer!! One diesel they are totalling out! mine had the least amount damage of any of them and I killed the biggest buck! I think I just convinced two dodge drivers to invest in a heavy brush guard now. Had a student that went out that afternoon to get the rack off mine and found out it was actually an 11 pointer! Hope everyone has better luck on the road than us.

You guys in the east count all the points right?
This is a Montana eight point mule deer, sixteen if you count both sides.
An eight point is somewhat rare in my parts.
Four points on each side are a dime a dozen.

You Westerners and your goofy counting system The only thing I call 5 x 5 or 6x is elk. For me, whitetails go by points. Really nice mulley

Nice deer. Been a long time since I've seen one like that on public land. Been on the Bar None and the CA and seen them but it's been probably about 18 years since I saw one like that where we hunt.

And I concur about the point count. It catches me off guard everytime. I think at first it must be a huge non typical but then I remember it probably is just a little 4x not much bigger than a large dog.

I hit one approx. 2 weeks ago - brush guard knocked her down, but she rolled back up into the driver door, then did a crazy pirouette into my rear box quarter. All said and done, $4000.00+ damage to my truck! They had to replace the Driver door and the Driver box side, then repainted the whole driver side of the truck.

I was driving through a camp ground at Fish Lake Utah several years ago in the fog and this young buck jumped right out of the woods into the side of my truck. So I got hit by a buck!
My brother and I both needed clean shorts after that, we didn't see him until his head was hanging over the hood of the truck. Never did find a trace of him, sure he lived we were not going fast as I could not see much past the hood.

Hit a pretty small doe last year in my truck, going about 55-60 mph. The height of my truck was just enough that the only damage I occurred was a broken licence plate mount. It must of smacked my diff cover also. It was just laying the the road convulsing. I wasn't sure what to do so I backed over it's head.

Hit a rather large buck several years ago in a Ford Taurus. Caved in the front fender and the whole body of the deer landed on the windshield. That scared the crap out of me. It's back leg was snapped in half but it still ran off in the treeline.

I almost hit one on my bike a few months ago. Thats something I really dread every time I ride. I hate those darn animals. If you guys shot them all and wiped out the whole population I wouldn't even blink an eye.

It looked like a pumpkin patch where I hunt public lands this year in Washington, I've got bigger blacktails in my backyard than on the east side it seems.

Nice Buck Infidel!

Think I'll see what's hanging around Dad's place this year.
