Evenin' all!

Another busy day up north again. Put new thermostats in the house today. Should help keep the #2HO use down a bit this winter. Also worked on some more weatherstripping. Dogs went to the vet for check ups and shots. Mama feeds the lab too much so she has to go on a diet. (the lab not mama ) Also the youngest helped me wash the truck today in time for it to rain tonight. At least I can see out the windows again.

Gonna put on a pot of Kopi Luwak for the Janitor. See if he likes it...

More winterization in the AM. Tomorrow is my last day of vacation.

'bout to jump in to bed and cover up my head, and close my beady little eyes.

NW Houston, Partly Cloudy 70*F and a full moon.

No lunch laddy duty all week. CyFair ISD closed untill Monday 9/22. Most districs are closed, some UFN.
Still some flooding, and a few areas on boil the water alert. have to boil it to make the coffee and sweet tea anyhow.
Power still out in many places 2.1 million still with out power, about 700,000 power restored. My sister's home still now power. She is with her daughter in SF New Mex.The cool weather is helping those with no A/C.
Much of Galveston island damaged or distroyed. There was look and leave in place for a while today, but too much traffic, so it has been xld. Also there are alligators, snakes, and swarms of pesky misquitoes.
Curfew, Houston Midnight to 0600, ends Monday morning. Most areas still have curfews, some dusk to dawn.
Most Banks still closed, no power. Some that are open are out of cash, ATMs are out of cash.
Many road still closed, flooding, trees down or debris. I-45 into Galveston was blocked by boats washed up in the south bound lanes.
Traffic is a mess, many traffic lights not working, and some people just blow thru the intersection, seen a few crashes.
Lot of problems with supplys to the FEMA PODS, points of distribution, that should hand out MER, water and ice. Many did not have supplys or ran out real fast.

Wife went to work today, took a POTS phone, and flashlights, and used daylight to work. Generator should be in place tomorrow.

Daughter worked from home today. SIL he went to work in the office that was open.

Did steaks on the propane grill, and Uncle Ben help in the kitchen with rice, cheese and brockoli stuff.

Tomorrow looks like everone will be at work, except me, and the kidletts.

ChriseR, you get a chance post a pix in you homemade haasssmesss outfit.
Just pretend you are CSI looking for the murder wepon in the lagoon.
Just think how nice the new digs are, and how happy momma is.

HAT, good luck on the move, it is just as much work if it across the road or across the country.

Jbjarko, always take time for the ladies. School, and work, they will always be there. Listen to the DTR MOM.

CIN, take care of yourself. Keep in shape, launch goodies, I appricate them. Take care of the mission you are on. GO girl.

Bleu,3/4, thanks for the sweet tea, its gone now so I'm outta here.

Have a good un and be safe out there.

Hey all. Sounds like people in texas got hit pretty hard with water. We got hit pretty hard in Ohio with wind from a combination of Ike and another front. Duke Energy (Cincinnati) reporting 1.2 million customers without electric. Dayton Power and Light reporting 300,000 of their 500,000 customers without power at following the storm. Many of the outages are improving at this point with Duke at 370,000 outages and DP&L with 160,000 outages.

Lots of downed trees across the area. (no shortage of firewood) Will try to post some pictures up here in coming days. Internet is finally working here, though still no electric.

Morning all ....

ain't feelin it this morning. Forgot to set the alarm, woke up 10 minutes after the morning meeting started, got stuck in traffic due to the stoplight that still isn't working, couldn't find my access badge (even though it was attached to my keys, in my pocket ).

Thank God for coffee and DTR !!!

Gotta go rip up carpet .... yippee !! (at least it beats wading in Chris' sewer lagoon !!)

Cheers,
PISTOL

We rode the storm out. We live about 35 miles from the coast, and probly 100 miles west of where the IKE made landfall. So we where on the "Clean" side of the storm. We live out in the country, and only had a couple trees down on 400 acres. Too many limbs to count. Spent 4 days picking up tree limbs out the yards of 5 houses.

We lost power as the storm was blowing in around 7 pm. friday, and just got it back on yesterday around 1 pm. We had a diesel 6kw light plant, and my Miller Bobcat 250 (10 kw) keeping us powered up through the storm, and afterwards.

We fared real well compared to the people on the east side. We do have a vacation house on the west end of galveston that we are not sure about. Real anxious to go check it out when they start letting people back into the west end.

Later...
