That would probably be a killer ride (no pun intended) right up to the point where the vehicle makes first contact with the water. I'll pass, any one else up for it?

A link to a little info on the catapults.

The small one has 62 million foot pounds of energy.
and can generate 15 Gs.

That looks like the Navy Seal press release for their new Urban-assault Vehicle... the U.V. Think they had one at the Detroit auto show.

I just sent this to some people at work. We got a good 30 minute laugh out of it. I don't know why I find this so funny, but every time I look at it, I lose it.

My father told me a story once that went something like that picture.

He was in the Marines as a recon. Sat in the back seat takin' pictures.
Anyway, he often had to spend time on carriers.

On one occasion, he said that he was just getting out of his plane after the low profile tractor had backed them into a particular spot on deck.
The tractor driver got off the tractor to chalk the aircraft tires and disconnect the tractor.
Well, it seems he disconnected his little tractor, then chalked the tires.
Well, after disconnecting the tractor from my dads aircraft, the tractor idled itself onto the runway.
As the story goes, they were doing "dry" launches with the catapolt system prior to launching the aircrafts.
His tractor got snagged on the hook as the hook was speeding towards the catapolt stop.
Being this guys tractor was on a diagnal couse to the hook, it did not get launched off the end of the deck, but was placed into a series of high speed donuts.
Its new, driver-less course set in a series of spins, took it across the area where the safety crew stand and then off the side of the carrier... still doing endless donuts.

My dad said it made quit a splash, about 75 yards off the side of the carrier.

We had an electric fork lift accidently get shoved off the elevator in the middle of the Atlantic one year. That thing probably fell for two days before it finally hit the bottom. It never happened though. ;D ;D
