My UPS driver has one of the newer Cummins Diesel powered trucks. Man! That thing sounds awesome! I wish mine sounded like that. I think it has a muffler but it doesn't muffle much. It sounds like it idles a little higher than our trucks and you can really hear the turbo sound coming through the exhaust. Is it the same 24 valve diesel as in the 2nd gens? It sounds almost like you guys with straight pipe or stacks. Man, I miss my loud truck sometimes....

My truck has slowly been getting louder up to almost 13,000 miles now. I to miss my noisey diesel. This truck just dosen't sound right, to quiet, dave.

 

There's a 3rd Gen CTD that passes my house every morning at the same time...I'm sure he had some sorta exhaust work done to it...but ya know...the first few times I heard it I thought it was some junker truck missing a muffler driving by. It didn't sound anything like a diesel. I couldn't really hear the turbo either. I'd hope it's just the type of set-up he has, because if all the 3rd Gen CTD's sound like that after modifying the exhaust then I'll have to stick to the 2nd Gen trucks.

 

Nope, everyone I've heard sounds like an old non-turbo V8 missing.

They just don't sound as smooth as our trucks do.

However, a friend of mine has one with 6" Stainless from the end of the downpipe back, and it sounds so deep that it's cool, but still not the same as his old 24v with that exhaust on it.
