Unions for Automotive Technicians
I went to college to be an auto tech. After I finished I quickly realized that the pay and benefits for an auto tech were pathetic. I ended up staying at the factory I was working at through college (better pay and benefits) for a few years and eventually took a job as a crane operator at a foundry. Im making more and have better benefits than I was ever going to make as a tech.
Basically if you arent happy with your pay and benefits find a new line of work. I have a friend (Associates Degree in Business Management) who works at a pizza joint and constantly complains about being broke and not making enough money. Its a pizza joint what does he expect, your never going to make even decent money making pizza. You have to go to the money, rarely is it going to come to you.
Dont get me wrong there are few jobs as an auto tech that pay well and have good benefits but they seem to be very few.
