Turbo Charging a Vette

A friend has a 2001 Vette and wants to turbo charge it or install a blower on it. Does anyone have a good site with any info on this work?

Well, if he's going to do it right, he should go here.

Best vette site on the net. More information than he'll ever need. One guy just dynoed 938rwhp on 10.5 psi of turbo boost. He's cranking the boost to 15. This is a built engine though. One guy just ran 9.98 in the 1/4 with nothing more than a heads/cammed 441 stroker. No turbo, nitrous, or supercharger.

Big Blue,

There was a whole lot more to that car than heads and a cam. No way it went that fast without a lot of work!!

True, it had heads and cam, but that's pretty much it. The LS1 is incredibly easy to make power with. A blower with an intercooler is pretty much guaranteed to make 450-500hp (includes at least a cat back exhaust). Nothing else. Guys with otherwise stock Z06 vettes and a turbo are cranking out over 500hp to the wheels. I was just saying that the LS1 is an amazing machine and can be made to go quite fast with very little work.

So if your 1/4 mile is a 9.98 then your trap speed should be 136 MPH, if the car weighs 3200 lbs, about right for a 2000 vette you are making 630 horse! There is more to it than heads and a cam!! Considering a 2000 Vette makes 345 horse stock.

441 cid, heads, cam, exhaust, tuning, new stall converter, rear end gears, intake manifold. That's it. Nothing else. No power adder of any sort.

I know it's a lot of money. But considering it's as docile as a ***** cat around town, it's very impressive. I can't find the thread on the 9.98 NA run. I'll keep looking though.

Big Blue,
Can you read? Not even close to stock, and countless thousands spent on this stuff!! If you've ever built a real "performance" engine you would know what kind of money we are talking about in this "Nothing more than heads, cammed stroker" vette as you called it. I am not trying to be an pain but please. I will agree with you that it is impressive, but I would prefer the Hennessey 830 HP Viper.
