I chuckled to myself afterward....thinking this sneaky racing tactic must be the same one that Big Blue uses for all of his "kills".

 

Yeah, I beat a Hyundai Sonata the other day - although I'm not sure he knew what was going on when he emerged from that black soot cloud.

I suppose I should have known that was coming.

Just for those who didn't realize this was a joke aimed at Big Blue (who must be sleeping)....here are the details of the "race":

Driving home from work and sitting at a red light. When it turns green traffic begins to move. I'm in the left lane. I notice the top of a car in my rear view mirror. I couldn't see the hood because the goofball was riding my bumper (I guess I wasn't rowing the gears fast enough for his liking). I'm gaining ground on a car in the right lane, however this Vette decides he can't stand being behind me any more so he attempts to zoom around the right side...only to have to slow down right next to me because of the car in the next lane. I'm in 5th gear now...doing about 45 mph. The speed limit is 55 mph. This is when I "blow his doors off". I punch it and get up to about 60 mph, passing the car that is slowing him down. I then let off because I'm approaching another truck from behind. He proceeds to get behind me and ultimately goes zooming around me on the right side. I guess he was in a hurry.

So...that was my "race". It was hardly reckless or careless...and lasted all of about four seconds. It made me laugh because I was thinking that must be how Big Blue gets his "kills". The intent of this post was to jab at him....not to brag about racing.

In the words of Doc Holliday in Tombstone, "My hypocrisy goes only so far."

There. Now we can be friends again.

That said....it's kind of flattering that you hang onto every little word that I say.

 

Well Hoss, you ALMOST figured my plan out. Except the other cars usually know we're racing and I end up beating them in a fair and square race. I also had a comp at the time all those kills were racked up. But now I don't. Well, at least for the next couple of days. The vette you happened to race wouldn't have happened to look like the one in my member's gallery would it? Dad took his up there this week for business. That would be to funny if it was.

 

It wasn't your dad. This one was a hard top and it was pewter (I believe that's what GM calls that color).

 

Hoss: You could have killed two threads with one incident.
1.) You blew the doors off the Vette.
2.) Could have been a great smoke story to add to the infamous smoke stories thread.

Hey, the nights still young giving you plenty of time to...embellish…. I mean put it into words.

 

I can beat that. I was coming home and this little POS PONTIAC with a fart can comes up fast behind me. I'm talking >50mph and i'm rolling to a stop. He screeches to a hault so close I only see his antanna. We turn right and he's in the right lane (ha ha ha) and obviously feels like showing off his fart can exaust. There is no one ahead of us for about 3 blocks, and I hear his POS auto downshift, and I'm telling myself "wait for it... wait for it..." and then he is in position, and I drop the hammer. POOF and I pull 2 cars on him before 40mph (laughs). We get to the light, no one ahead of us, and he's reving his car for all it's worth. I drop it into 4wd, and braketorque to about 5psi or so, light turns green, hammer down. I see him disappear rather quickly. After that, he's a nice law abiding citizen who doesn't try to cut me off or do anything stupid.

 

Ahhh HOSS....

It is this exact type of behavior that leads to road rage, accedents and people getting hurt. Now, we could go into a long lecture as to how you were in the wrong and should never, ever attempt anything foolish like this again and this lecture would not even include the repercussions of said cement bed liner. However, I do not feel it is warranted for this particular incedent. The isssue at hand is the fact that this is a gateway race that will lead you down the path of misfortune and heart ache. The misfortune of loosing regularly.
