truck washing, avoiding "spider webs"

How do you guys wash your dark colored trucks to try to avoid all those nasty "spyder webs" and little scratches and things? any special tricks to keep them to a minimum?

I use two wash buckets. One with the soap and the other with just plain water. I also use a natural wool wash mitt(sounds like its course but it isn't) and for the roof I use the new meguiars wash mop(5' extended handle".
The secret is to keep the wash mitt or mop free from dirt. I rinse the truck to remove all loose dirt then wash from the top down. I wash one section(roof, hood, top or doors and bed in that order). I rinse the mitt after every section in the rinse bucket.
The last part is the lower section of the truck. This will obviously have the most dirt. SOmetimes I wash those sections twice the first being a light wash to remove the biggest crud, then a second wash to finish removing everything.

The front will receive bug remover if needed.

The wheels get washed with a wheel brush.

To dry I use my shop vac as a blower.

Hope this helped

I wash mine about the same as Jon but I don't have the 2nd bucket. My paint is so scratched up that I'm not too worried about it anymore! I got a big wash brush from the Target with soft bristles and pretty much wash the whole truck with it now. I can't wait till I can paint it with a good paint instead of the crap DC uses.......

I also use the 2 bucket method. the only thing I would add is I use 3 different mitts. I start whith an old one on the wheels. Then I use my newest one on everything above the bumper/beauty line (?) you know the groove around the turck and then with a 3rd mit I wash everthing below the line like bumpers and the grill. To dry I like the Absorber from Walmart but the pros use a waffle weave towel that you can special order. I get along fine with my Absorber. It is a synthetic chamois that absorbs really well. I also buy micro fibers from Costco and use them to dry the inside of my doors bumpers and wheel wells. They are washable and have been pretty durable. If you go to www.detailcity.com you can read until your eyes fall out on how to take care of your truck.

Good luck! BSB

I use a wool mit with one bucket filled with rain-x car wash. I then dry it with either a squeegee or a super chamois.

I wait for a good rain and then drive really fast to build up the water pressure so it sprays it good.
