Time for a new job (jumping ship)

Well Im 32 and married now, and i have been a yacht deliverey captain for 14 yrs now, but this spring and summer have shown me how vunerable this industry is-evan for the rich. Some of the yachts that i run up and down the east coat every season are just going to stay put in there own home waters. So now Im brain storming and inviting anyone else to brain storm with me

dont think I would go international, too much piracy and too few international laws allowing you to shoot them..

when i was at class for work (marine mech.) kid i partnered up with was the captain of a boat that would drive up next to the big container ships and drop off another capt. to pilot the container ship into port and dock it. to me is sounded like a cool job to have might want to look into that or somethin along those lines maybe?

Well I now how you feel, I,m in the marine industry to. I hold a tankerman's ticket, work is done. There so many mills shut down up here my job ends in November after 20 years doing this. Looks like I have to fall back to truck driving I quit that rat race 25 years ago when companies were getting rid of there drivers in favor of owner/operators. Getting to old to start over!!!!!!!!!!!!! I see you have a lot of sea time You will need to upgrade your ticket why not try for mate or skipper on tugs????

I know this is not related to your job search but any advise you could give me would be great. I see that you are in Fort Lauderdale and I have a few questions for you. My boss and I are considering trailering his 24ft SeaRay Sundancer down there and cruising over to the Bahamas. If you could help wiht the following questions I would really appreciate it.

What are the sea's like between Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas?

Would you receommned it in a boat that size?

Anything specail to look at?

TIA

Why? Are they better at selling vacuum cleaners than anyone else?

Most Kirby folks I've met look like they are straight out of rehab or the state pen.

Kipper, Bimini is the closet island to Ft Laud-57 miles, Freeport(port Lucaya) 85, Nassau 180. Im assuming your going to bimini or Freeport, Both do able in a 24 single but i highly recomend you go in a group. During the summer is the best time to cross. during july and aug short of hurricanes and thunderstorms the ocean looks like glass alot. Make sure his insurance still covers him in the Bahamas. Any way have a great trip
ps fuel is around $6-7
