Still lots of rigs out there, although they are dwindling everyday. I will let you know what I find out here. May be able to get you some for other states as well.

For right now give black hills trucking a call. I think they are in Wyoming, but it could also be in Montana. good friend of mine works for them, as far a s I know their pretty good people.

here is website -> http://www.truckertrucker.com/articl...B_Oilfield.htm

not sure if you have your own, but try here if you do -> http://www.acmetruck.com/html/employment.html

A buddy told me to go here -> http://www.rigzone.com/search/c/comp...tion/trucking/ This one will keep you busy for a while. Lots of companies there.

When you talk to these people be sure to emphasis your experience, and your reliability, that among all else is what they are looking for.

Good Luck. Let me know how it turns out!!!!!

Sounds like you have your mind made up to go back OTR... but have you ever thought of buying a used skid steer and doing residential landscaping type work? It would seem like you have a truck to pull the trailer, and the experience to operate the equipement... I have heard in the past that guys that can do this kind of work stay pretty busy once they get established alittle.. I have heard they pretty much have to beat people away when they add a mini trac-hoe to thier fleet...

One day (pipe dream) I would like to buy a dump trailer, skid steer, and trac hoe... I would think that would pretty much make you an independent "one man" show...

I would only do it if I had no other alternative. Things have changed out there over the last 10 years. Couple all the changes with a poor economy and T-T training schools flooding the industry with inexperienced low wage drivers, and you are going to find it extremely difficult to find a job that you can make any money at and still have some home time. To find any level of professionalism with drivers on the road today is virtually impossible. These are only a couple reasons I got out of the industry full time. I took a large pay cut doing so, but have afforded my family more stability.

Good luck,

Tim

Not really made up my mind, More like the economy around here has made up my mind for me. Allready have a T300 bobcat & a 334 mini ex, (just like about 100 other people) The jobs are so few & far between now & with soo many people bidding it's allmost impossible to make any profit. Trying to hold off doing anything drastic till spring breaks, to see if any of the builders I did work for reguarly start anything new. The way it looks now I have work with my regular job till the end of jan & only two days of work with my skidsteer.

Sorry to hear that, I thought it would be worth a shot... most of the guys around here head into the city's to get the work, because the houses are so close together no big machinery can get between them without the possibility of foundation damage... Well good luck if you get back into trucking... I drive locally for a living, I was hauling containers regionally, but lucked into a better job that paid by the hour with a "monster" company... I can tell you that the foreigners have really taken over and driven down the waiges (those guys truely live in those trucks)... and fuel prices have really put a hurt on things...

Well as it turns out, I was laid off. People are scattering pretty quick. Kind of came as a surprise. Just kinda out of the blue, "by the way we don't need you anymore, good luck." I'm not sure what I am gonna due either. I will keep my ear open for you though, if I hear of anything I'll post it up or pm ya. Good luck in the job search, I'm doing the same.
